I'm playing DAoC at the moment (which is great by the way
and i was wondering how the realm vs realm system of WOW work's, thought i'd check it out when ppl started chittering about it in DAoC, look's really amazing i must say=)
World of Warcraft will have many different servers (called realms). Each realm will have its own name. Generally, friends should decide which realm to reside on before creating a character; however, if your friend has already begun playing the game before you, simply ask them which realm they reside on and join that one.
Also, other info.
Character names are unique on each realm. However, the same character name can exist on a different character on other realms.
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel alright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more. I may be bad, but I feel good.
WoW doens't have Realm vs. Realm combat as DAoC does.
In DAoC Realm vs. Realm (RvR) is the main form of PvP play.
People from one realm joins up into groups that will do battle with enemies of that realm.
All three realms are official enemies and thus legal targets in the frontieres (PvP areas).
It has nothing to do with the "realm" concept stated by Blizzard.
What you should look at is the way WoW does PvP and this is snipped from the FAQ at WoW-site.
We know that the player vs. player (PvP) option is very important to many gamers. Therefore, we plan to incorporate a form of player conflict into the World of Warcraft. However, players who do not wish to participate in PvP combat will not be required to do so. The PvP system will be incorporated in a consensual way that will be fun for those who wish to take part in this form of combat. Announcements regarding PvP options in the World of Warcraft will be announced in the months ahead.

Sir Edmund:"Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?" Me:"It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."
