Solo DS
I only play DS solo but I download a mod to give me a larger backpack 8x17. I also use some cheat codes built into DS like the one to provide a full set of armor and weapons each with 12 health. I also use the one that sets invincability. Another code gives you super or mega potions on command. I wont state the cheat code here but you can read them at http://www.ds.heavengames.com. To veiw and download free mods goto http://www.dsedit.net. Read the readme that comes with the mod before adding it to the resource folder. There are some differences between DS-single, DS-multiplayer and LOA-multiplayer. If I forget to change some mod I'll get an exception when I go online.
The cheat codes and mods provide a new experiance and greater enjoyment from the game.

Cheating
I have played the game without cheats I did no even know about cheats while playing the original bugy DS. Cheat codes and mods I see as enhancements to keep the game interesting. Just consider when you see a item in multiplayer with a price of $priceless. Whould you like to buy it? if so you need a mod that increases the amount of gold your holding. I recently completed a game of LOA and I found a Slicer at the shop in the Frozen Fen. It cost $41,000,000 gold to buy and with out the gold mod I wouldn't been able to buy it. Seems odd to me that the game offers pricess weapons and armor but you need a mod to buy and yet you object to mods. I suggest you go to http://www.dsedit.net and review the mods. Some you may want like the larger inventory and more gold. You may not want the XP accelerator or the level 300 mods but your choice,
