Raids and Instances

Post by CM »

I understand what a raid is, a battleground etc. But what the heck is an "instance"?

Don't know excatly how it is implementated in WoW, but normally in MMOG termonology it would mean then when you and your group enter for instance ( ;) ) an "Instance dungeon" a specific copy of that dungeon would spawn just for you and your group.
If other groups enter the same "Instance dungeon" - they would get a similar spawned dungeon just for them - so multiple groups can adventure the same dungeon but each in their own "instance" (copy) of the original.

This is to avoid camping of dungeons, so everybody can enjoy adventuring in them.

Hopes this explains it a bit :)

(this term is similar in object orientated programming by the way)

That it does. According to WoW the instances will also be geared to levels and stuff i am guessing. Just wanted to know what the hell they were on about. Thanks :)

Another thing they did to avoid camping... those instance will take a lot of hour to finish... you can't come in and camp the big boss for loot. You must come with all your guild/friend to clean the place. My friend tried one of the first instance in CrossRoad(The region close to the Barrens where orc/troll start) and it took them 6hour to clean. ;)
