BotB Webpage for WOW Need assistance.
I am currently Creating a webpage and images for the page... working up a little magic. If you CM could come up with some storyline I could do the filler and grunt work on the page.... We need a charter etc etc. I need images of the banshee (got a sweet css page going and photoshop alll ready)
I'll show some bits and peices when I can.
I am on the Silver Hand server.. I plan on getting people from the server to join to get to 10... I have come across quite a few friendly adventurers... and I am in a guild/talking with another one. Getting to know people...
So If anyone has images or idea's or has put together a storyline or has links to past The blades of the banshee webpages (Resources) shoot them here into this thread and or private message me.

What are you building in?
I got some knowlegde of .net (asp.net using vb.net), and could also cook up some ordinary asp, html, xml (would need to look that up again) etc if needed.
Don't know any php though - so can't code in that.
AS for a banshee - I've seems to misplaced the "Wraith" from the old Gamebanshee logo...
I'll try to see if it has misplaced itself on my harddrive.

You know what would be sweet would be the wraith around one of the original sword designs. Here are the swords designs that xandax sent me.
Oh yeah who is gonna host it? Can buck host it? Plus what do you need exactly? I can draft something up pretty quickly but it would be just my ideas, what would we need?
1. Rules
2. Background story
3. ???
I will do some research tonight and see what i can come up with.

Well i should have a charter and set of rules ready by tomorrow morning. Or even tonight. I have some ideas from the various websites i have seen. Heirarchy and the such can always be changed around to reflect the common mood. Whatever I get will be posted in this thread.

Nice pictures! That emblem will be a nice addition to our outfits (will we have a dress code?).
I can't imagine there will be a need for fancy coding or design, at least not at first. A priority should be to have all information available online. Once you're there, people can start giving feedback and you can use the URL as a pointer to more information about the guild when you're recruiting or just name dropping.
RandomThug, I hope you can give us a peek soon. Have you got the site planned as US-only or is there also room for the European chapter? Probably we are going to need a distinction between general information and information that is server dependant.
Please, don't hesitate to call upon your guild members for assistance. That is what guilds are for, aren't they?

Personally think that we will have one-website for both factions. It would be rather pointless to have two different websites for one guild. It would be great if we can stick to the Gamebanshee forums (ie this forum).

Blades of the Banshee Charter
The Blades of the Banshee (BotB) is a mature yet casual guild for the World of Warcraft. Based in both the US and EU domains, it is an Alliance Guild represented on the RP and PvP servers. Though extremely new to the world of Warcraft scene, BotB boasts an impressive community taken from Gamebanshee and a distinguished roster of mature players and role-players.
Through BotB we aim to provide a mature and fun atmosphere where the desire to have a good time. Teamwork, respect and patience are the key virtues of a member of BotB. You must respect members of the guild and other players you encounter on-line at all times.
Short, I know but it will be editted and more will be added. Comments and ideas welcome. I am not sure what else i need to add. Around 10 more lines would be great. You know a good half a page or more.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Who are The Blades of the Banshee?
Well, for starters – we are a group of gamers, meeting at the gaming forum GameBanshee. There we all more or less have met each other during our times in Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II.
Some of us then decided to join forces for creating a guild for Neverwinter Nights, and this led to the creation of the adventure group “Blades of The Banshee”.
The name is a tribute to GameBanshee, and its creator.
If you are a member of GameBanshee, and wondering whether or not to join, you could always drop by our forum in there, and meet up with some of us. You will find that most of our ‘Wing Leaders’ are highly opinionated and will make sure that no matter what class you are that you will get settled.
The only thing I can say to you is that you should come and have a look, it’s the only way you will find out about us and you’re not under a contract or anything. Our main tenet is that we are adventuring fun, come and have a look and join the phenomenon that will be the Blades of the Banshee…
What else can we add in the FAQ. I was think what server we would be playing on and a roster, but we dont know either one yet. Plus any other ideas for an FAQ would be great. Just list them here.
The General Rules
1.) All members are required to abide by the Official World of Warcraft Game Policies.
2.) The guild is designed with adventure and camaraderie together.
3.) If for any reason you have a grievance with another member, you must contact your Wing Leader who will bring this up before the Council. Evidence is required (Screenshots of the offence) on which action will be taken, more on punishments later.
4.) You are allowed to adventure with anyone, any alignment or class (no horde sorry), outside the guild. We do not limit anybody to only adventuring in our guild. You make friends and have fun playing with them. We are not going to stop that.
5.) The sharing of treasure is to be done as such. We request that any money or treasure of no use to you is given to the guild. If a Paladin for example finds a Holy Avenger, he may keep it, after all it prudent that he should use it. A fighter would not need a magical staff for example and it could be used by a Mage. It is requested that in a party please choose the round-robin method of getting loot and items.
6.) We request that once part of BotB; you list your character name with the guild as part of the roster and also let us know if you are playing any other characters even on different servers.
7.) This is a game after all; keep any conflicts to a character level.
8.) Punishments shall come in three forums. The first will be a warning. The second will be a two-week reprimand. For those two weeks you will not be allowed to play for the guild. The third is removal from the guild itself. These three steps are to be followed one after the other and the only reason you will be punished will be by breaking of the rules placed by Blizzard and by the Blades of the Banshee.
9.) We leave the rest of the rules to the better judgment of our members and the player community. If the need arises more rules will be codified with the express wishes of the membership.
Any comments on the rules? Too long? Too short? Did i miss something? What should be added?
Hierarchy
It’s pretty simple. We follow the following format:
The Divine Wing
• Chosen Paladin/Cleric (1)
• The Holy Council (3)
• Holy Warrior (10)
• Holy Guard (Unlimited)
The Magi Wing
• Archmage (1)
• Council of Magic (3)
• High Magi (10)
• Magi (Unlimited)
The Nature Wing
• Natures Protector (1)
• Council of Nature (3)
• Natures Avenger (10)
• Natures Guard (Unlimited)
The Rogue Wing
• Shadow master (1)
• Council of Shadows (3)
• Master Thief (10)
• Thief (Unlimited)
The Warrior Wing
• Warlord (1)
• Council of War (3)
• Council Guard (10)
• Fighter (Unlimited)
To be promoted in rank there must be an opening to be promoted to.
The 3 lower ranks will be reviewed every month. It is requested that the maximum term of office for the two middle ranks is 2 months.
After the time has passed a new person will be promoted in. If a member is found to be derelict of duty s/he will be demoted and a new vote will occur. This can happen at any time.
Each Wing Leader will holds it's position for 3 months. If no one wishes to take over the previous may stay in. Only someone from one rank lower may become a wing leader.
Copied directly from the NWN clan website. I found it rather creative and thought it would work out well. Any comments?

Well - I've only programmed .NET for about 2 months (second paycheck - yeah
).
Normal ASP I've got limited experience with from school and XML is limited (very limited) from a course I took once after I was finished at school and had to drop because I got a job.
So it was just- that if you needed something coded and I know the language - I could help out, because ... well coding is what I do and what I like to do.
Unfortunally - I can't host .NET because I only have a basic (yet expensive
) webhotel for my domain which dosen't allow dynamical things.
@CM/Fas: Maybe the structure should be re-thought somewhat. It isn't plausible to have wings set up in that manner in a MMORPG I think. A more direct structure with GM->Officers->Regular is possible better.
Also - I would think there is a limit on the number of Ranks in the guild by Blizzard - forinstance in DAoC there were 10 guild ranks (0-9).

When i did the webpage for my guild I used e107 to lay the base and then modded it by adding a wow character page, If you want you can have the php source code for that webpage (although parts of it is in swedish as we are an swedish only guild). I'm still working on the theme and automatic updates of the characters level data, but as soon as the final beta starts and I can get ingame to try out some of my modz for WoW I should get both those things working

CM, it looks like you made a good start with the charter. I like the general description, it does not matter if it's short. If the guild becomes active more guild background will probably be added. I think it would be nice to mention the unique properties of the guild. Why should anyone want to join this guild in particular? Maybe we can come up with a few..
Another thing, won't we need an explanation of the guild name that fits in with the WoW universe? I don't know if it is possible to read guild charters from withing the game, but names of guilds and characters are supposed to fit the context. Of course Gamebanshee is our home base and these boards will be a very good place to meet and discuss the proceedings, but maybe we should think of a guild history that explains the name from a WoW perspective? I don't know if banshees exist in the WoW, but since the banshee is a mythological figure, I doubt people will take offence if we invent a history involving a real banshee somewhere in the WoW.
The rules are OK, I think. The hierarchy bit is a bit too extensive maybe. As it looks now, we will be lucky if we get 10 people together before the European launch so making all those wings is a bit too enthousiastic.

Do we have a page?
I am wondering how the BotB homepage is getting along. In my opinion, we don't need anything fancy or dynamic. I see some guild sites have their own message boards for example. Since we are a Gamebanshee guild, I don't think we will be needing that. Besides, there are plenty of ways to communicate within the game itself, as I understand.
I could make a page with guild info on my personal web site (my ISP gave me 10 Mb to play around with) which I could have online tomorrow. If RandomThug's site becomes available, I could close it again but I think it would be nice to have something online soon. When that has happened, we could stick the URL in our signatures for example, which should help in attracting attention and getting enough guild members.

Well looking at your wings it looks like this is how it would work:
The Warrior Wing - obviously this will be for warriors.
The Rogue Wing - again obviously for rogues.
The Nature Wing - this is where the druid would go (and shaman if you were the horde)
The Magi Wing - for mages of course... I wouldn't recommend it but I suppose warlocks as well.
The Divine Wing - your paladins will go in this wing.
I see no place for the Hunter class or Priest class. You have the Divine Wing grouped in categories like Holy Council and Holy Warrior. I don't think a priest would go in here seeing as how they aren't considered specifically holy. Even the undead, who are considered the only race truely evil and mistrusting in the game are able to become priests, because of the priest's manipulative shadow powers. Unless you don't plan on having these classes in your guild.

I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel alright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
I may be bad, but I feel good.

I will re-do the wings part later on this weekend. I am thinking as people have said to drop the wings idea and just look towards are small heirarchy. 3 Levels. The "Council of Elders" which will be 5 members. Then you have a second rank of "Enforcers" which will be 9 members. Then you have the third group which will consist of your average shmoe. The titles are not perfect and they are just of the top of my head. If anybody has better ideas plus state them.
Btw anybody have RT on MSN or Yahoo or have any way of contacting him other than e-mail or pms?

Yeah I thought a better wing system would look like this, since you have 8 classes to choose from it would be better to have 8 wings or 4 wings:
Creature Wing - Druids and Hunters
Blade Wing - Warrior and Rogue
Arcane Wing - Mage and Warlock
Protection Wing - Paladin and Priest
Or group them into classes that play similar roles
Warrior and Rogues (melee)
Mage and Priest (backstage magic caster)
Warlock and Hunter (pet tanker)
Paladin and Druid (hybrid class)
but I think it is a better idea to drop the wing system, since you would need 75 people to fill in all positions in system you had shown, maybe more since its likely you might get 18 paladins to join but only 9 rogues or something like that. Supposing you get that many people to join. The three levels, council, enforcers, ect. sounds like it's on the right track.
