Problem With IDing items in D2 internet

Like my name says, i am having trouble Identifying items on battlenet for D2. i often go along on higher level missions, so do i need to be at a higher level to be able to ID them?

There are two ways of identifying items in D2. Either you can buy ID-scrolls in the shops and put them in a Tome that holds 20 scrolls, or you can use Cain (when you've saved him in Act 1) to ID your items for free. There are no level requirements to use ID-scrolls, and when you want to ID something you just right-click on the Tome and then left-click on the item in your inventory that you want to ID.

Like CE said, can't really understand why your having a problem unless your new in which case I apologise. Maybe some of the things you pick up are hacked in some way and you just can't use/read them. If you run with disreputable higher lvl chars it has been known to happen.
