Check this site for trading values. This is a reference however, it gives you the price relation between items, not the exact value. But it's a good standard.
Note: this site lists the trading values in pgems and runes, not SoJ's. I think most people prefer runes over SoJ's when trading.

Hi TCS-Aznshizzle and welcome to the forum!
Sorry for my delay, I'm extremely busy with my job right now, so I'll elaborate more in a couple of days if you still have any questions then.
Trading values differ between realms, and they differ a lot between ladder and non ladder. As Moltovir has already written, SoJ:s are no longer the universal currency but rather runes. A major problem with trading though is all the duped high runes. Because of this, I don't recommend anyone to trade other than with people you already know and trust, like real life friends or long term playing companions.

Woops! I hadn't noticed you were a new member
Welcome to the Gamebanshee forums!
Duped runes can disappear, which is not funny when you've just traded for an expensive high rune and suddenly you can't find it in your stash anymore... Runewords made of duped runes are still not safe, but they only disappear when Blizzard does a big cleaning.... and that never happens.

A duped item can disappear like Moltovir explains, and it also happens sometimes, although very rarely, that Blizzard make a "rust storm" which means they detect duped runes and make them disappear even when they are socketed in items. People have reported how their high runes disappear from their Enigmas and BoTD:s.
There is no way you can tell whether an item is duped or not, unless you have found it yourself in the game. There is also no way to know if somebody else is duping items, although it is of course suspicious when you see people willing to trade several high runes or perfect small charms.
Over the years I have played D2, I have always avoided trading except with a few people I know and play with.
