Dungeon Siege 2 ..... sucks?

Post by Cecrops »

Well before everyone yells at me let me start off by saying dungeon siege is VERY fun to play. That said, the only reason I will absolutely NOT be buying this game is because of the save/load feature. I cannot stand games that only have a single save spot, so that if i accidentaly save it, i overwrite my progress and screw myself. Also, right after saving i went to the restroom and forgot to pause and when i come back my party is at the restart point (where you go if you die) so i thought, no problem ill just load. wrong. it AUTOSAVES my ONLY save spot AFTER dying. how stupid. Furtheremore, there is no load option. if i want to load my only savegame i have to quit, restart and reload the world. again, i think thats lame. Maybe its me or im doing something wrong (and i hope i am) but i am not wasting my time on this game anymore until i can save and load. Truely i want to play this game, can anyone help me out here? does anyone else agree/disagree? why? thanks.

Dude, I don't know what DS you play, but whenever I save, I always get a NEW save and the autosave, saves in it's own little part. So tell me, what version, country, patch, whatever, are you playing cause I have never heard of this.

He's not the only one. Unless I don't know what I'm doing, it saves in one spot all the time. I'm not allowed to name the save or pick from a list when I load from the main menu.

If we're doing things wrong, I'd love an explanation of how the system is supposed to work.

Michael

P.S. Playing the US demo version of Dungeon Siege 2.

I believe you're basing your opinion on the demo. I found it a little awkward to go to the main menu to reload, but I doubt this will be part of the official version.

That's how it's going to be in the final release. But DS2 isn't a game where you're meant to load very often.

I haven't played the demo, but when I played DS1 I can't remember ever reloading. Since DS is more of an action game like Diablo, I think the idea is that the game should have a similar "flow" in gameplay as Diablo.

load and save options....

hi people,
i haven't started this game yet; rec'd word today that there is no option in ds2 to quick save (previous f9)...no option to load...name a new save..etc!!!
is this a microsoft rush job? or what...will it be one of those crazy long-haul games that requires that you can only save after certain points? (like indiana jones).
pleeeease say my mate has got it wrong..i have been waiting for this game...re-running legends of aranna at the moment...these are beautiful grapics...ds2 must be incredible (not played the demo)
speak to me!!!!

From what I've played of the demo, you can save anytime, anywhere; however, when you load the game back, you aren't in the exact spot you saved it at - you reappear at a "hub", and must travel back to the place you were at. At least, that's my experience so far.

Well guys, i was playing the game (im on the last act at this moment, just 1 or 2 days more to finish the solo mode) i already have and there are a lot thing dont go very good on this game, yes is fun , but a lot thing the developers must update as fast as they can

First is the saving game, yes, is not only on demo version but in full version too, only one splot to save, so each time you save, game overwrite previous save, so if you hit save when you accidently dissmis your pet or when you fail at something, your are Fu** :P

Second: Items .... i bought one bow and the begining of the second act a "rare" one, and when i back to the merchant after 5 mins, voila, there it is again, same thing happens with all "rare" items (i just check those, but i think happens with all) yes rings and pendants too.

Plus that well, i must say i have 4 "Unique" Wolfbites (purple gloves for natural caster)... LOL

Msg to developers: randomize items on Sellers and pls make "unique" items realy unique at least on solo play :P

On the oher side i must say sometimes is really fun, (I Love the Arena, pls put more levels on the arena, pls pls pls), i dont will say anything about the game it selfs, just dicoverd it playing :) , but i have a nice puppie with me all the time, my little Kysha :)

PS: talking about Pets...another feed system will be great, feed pets with weapons, armors, rings .... i dont see a pup of any clase eating that.... Well may be one hehehehe . aaahh my lovely Kisha

PPS :Sorry if i dont write anything corretly, im not as good as i want to be on english

Oh, i almost forget it

another points for developers:

1º: Hotkey for weapons, spells, etc for singel members of the party, i hard swich beetwen spells in the middle of a hard fight, specialy if you are a natural caster, (switching nukes to heals and back then to nukes can be a pain if you need to target those spells with the mouse then target members of party then target enemies etc...vs about 15 monsters and 1 boss, yeah there are hotkeys to switch entery party but are useless)

:P arty IA, well, when they are on mirror mode usually there are no problems but on rampage mode sometimes party members dont move nor attack, they will restart attack if you change auto-attack target or move, but that can be a pain when a lot mobs on screen and you can keep the track of who is atatcking and who is drinking a beer watching the fight :P
