chance to find magic items +X%
chance to find magic items +X%
I already have some rings with this bonus, but now discovered reagents with +5% and though I might make a ring for magic items bonuses. (found 6slot biggest so far)
I wonder if the bonus is added to whole party (=for every moster killed by any char) or if the bonus only applies to the character that wears the ring and takes the last health point of the monster.
thx for your advices...

A 5% better chance of finding magic items means that a monster that normally drops a magic item 100 times out of 10,000 (say...) now drops it 105 times. That's not a very big difference, and indeed a waste of a slot. If you want to find more items, be a human.
Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes right down to the bone
This is probably a matter of personal preference. If you just want to make it through the game, then you don't really need a bonus to finding magic items. The battles are generally easy enough that you can equip your party just from shops and still be fine, and so anything you find on the ground is just gravy.
But if you're one of those players like me who likes to explore every nook and cranny and find every object possible, then the bonus is a must. 5% extra won't do a lot for you, but it's pretty easy to get that bonus to 200-300%, and then you'll notice the difference. The easiest way to bump up the bonus is to enchant magic books. Eventually you'll find 4x4 enchantable books, and you can enchant them to have a 120% bonus each.

It could be a big or small chance, because your "10,000" figure is purely arbitrary. We're actually dealing with a 5% increase on an unknown: it could be 100, not 10,000.
I'm currently wearing 5 items that increase the chance of finding magical items, for a total of about 44%. I'd say that most of my item finds are magical, that is, possessing some enchantment. But even if the chances are great of finding such items, I have to wonder how useful it is. You can only wear so many magical items, and there's a clear ceiling to the quality of them at any point in the game, depending upon some aspect of party level. So I end up selling nearly everything I find, even the very good stuff, and the merchants are only slightly ahead of the quality curve on what I can find. I've not gone back and redone any areas, and in the first chapter of Act 2, I've got 50,000+ gold. Is that about standard for most people? If not, then the results are probably due to the increase in items, but I'll bet it isn't much.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
This amount of cash is normall, I think.
Now I'm playing on elite, and sometimes set items are dropped by monsters one by one. I nearly completed (without one part) Undying Warlord Set in about 15 minutes. And I have bonus about 30% to find magical items.
Other thing is, that I already have 4,3 mln gold in my stash and I don't have any idea what to do with it :>

thx everyone for your advices...
as swcarter says the best are probably the enchantable books...especially for non-casting characters it is the best place to put the rainbow reagents and save the ring/amulet slots.
The only problem I have now is that the first time I saw this reagents at the dealer he had about 5 of them. I of course bought them all straight away, but since than I only found at him (tried both Amanlu & Eirulan dealers) about one or two and I go to him every time I start/exit the game.
I made a book for my main hero. Used 2 slots for +5% mana reg. and the rest of 6 aviable for rainbow reagents. Now I have 2 rainbows left in my chest but want to wait until I have some more to fully fill (since u cannot unenchant items) a book for my giant, that has the basic ****ty book so it is the best place to put them in now for me.
I want to ask if there is any tip where I could get some more of these rainbow reagents or do I just have to keep trying to find them at the merchants?
btw I now have +96% for magic items on my party and I have to say I find much better items than the best stuff that merchants offer. Only rarely I find something better at them.
btw I just killed the Vaikesh tree boss (app 3/4 of act 2) and I have my hero on 28 (combat), lothar on 28 too and finala and taar on 26. I kicked my ranged character cause it seemed pretty useless and got another combat char.

Merchants change their stock every time you load your game, so if you're patient, you can just keep loading and visiting the component dealer. I did that one night while I was watching a bad movie on tv.
Btw, there's a better component then the rainbow one. I can't remember what it's called, but it takes 2 squares and gives a 15% bonus.

I was just saying it like that so I wouldn't have to type 0.0105.
But to put it in general terms: You get a 5% bonus on the chance of getting a magic/rare/unique/set item from a given drop. Think about how many uniques you have found throughout the game. If you had worn this item from the start, you would have gotten 5% more uniques. (I.E not very much)
