Lost in the Dig Site of DS loa

I've talked to the Archeologist and been told to find his assistant, but can not find a way out of the territory between there and the city. Has it something to do with the many color lighted columns or is there a cave or dungeon entrance I've missed? I've been to the top of the astronomy tower and didn't find anything there except for a book page.

Use the overhead to view where you've traveled. Go down the elevator behind the archiologist.

Thanks, I had missed that switch; must have been too much in the zoom-out mode.
