At least it solves one problem: guilds draining all the lvl 60s from other guilds. At least on our server, it's common that 2-3 big guilds are established only to aggregate all the lvl 60s in order to have enough members for high-end instances and raids. Now, this inevitably causes the smaller guilds (which might have been up for months by now) to crumble...

By the time the expansion comes out, 3x as much lvl 60s will be around in any guild (because lvl 40-50s will get to 60 by that time), so guilds can start levelling together from 60 to 70. This way they have more chance to keep their lvl 70s in their guild.

Apart from this... I don't know. I'm afraid of repeated quest schemes (like "kill 8 of this kind of mob, 6 of that kind, 7 of the third kind and return to me for your reward"...), that would be really disappointing and boring. Hopefully the developers at Blizz have better fantasy and will find out something to keep us interested in WoW :)

I am a lvl 41 warrior on the silvermoon server in europe. i am also a casual player. i regulary play about 1-2 hours at a go, and it takes me about 12 hours to go up a lvl. sometimes i don't play it all for a few days. For casual players it is harder to get to lvl 60 and all the end-game armour. I think at lvl 60 all xp should be wiped out, as you can't use it to lvl up any more. Also, you are all probably maybe hardcore players and play like 5-6 hours a day, and do MC, Strat and Scholo all the time. You just don't want to lose your hard earned armour to new better armour. you are acting like babies that don't want anything to change. Accept that it will change and the lvl cap will be 70, and you will have to get new armour from the outlands or somewhere like that. As Orson welles said in the third man, strife has caused big changes in italy, whiole in switzerland they made nothing due to no strife. well i bet blizz and strifed by all of this, and i reckon they are going to blow all our minds with the new patch and expansion pack! :p

I was a casual player when I played, and if this went live when I were still playing - I would have stopped instantly, because it would mean I couldn't play with the majority of the people I had played with through the first half year.
So no - just because people don't like this expansion doesn't mean they are powergamers affraid of changes, and I'm rather perplexed at you reaching this conclusion

Such expansios as this, including the levelcap increase is always much worse for the casual players then for "hardcore" players as I wrote an ealier post, because it will cause an even greater gap before casuals can join in on the high level content and/or compete with the more hardcore players. And it will only get harder as time goes on and more people migrate to the new high level content, because that leaves the "casuals" fewer people to group with in the content which they have to go through to get the equipment to handle the new high level content. I've seen this happen without (a direct) level cap increases in other MMOGs as well, and it was already somewhat visible in the existing content - so I strongly doubt why such an expansion as this this suddenly would change and be casual friendly.

That is why I would have meant it would be better for Blizzard to spend time on improveing existing material/content and changing existing, instead of adding new higher levels and.
And what about all the quests we did after we became level 60? What about all that exp? Is that just down the drain, or will people recieve it immediatly once the patch comes?

IMO both choices are equally bad, if we don't get the exp we've gathered, then that's really a big loos for people. And if we get it all at once, then we'd all be lvl 65 or so immediatly...

It just doesn't work to be honest.
Most probably the argument used against that would be that level 60's who have done those quests have better items and will therefore have an easier time leveling up the 10 new levels that those that just hit 60.

Still, we have done the quests.. And I imagine aall that farming/instancing must have given quite alot of exp as well

tbh, there is no good solution to this problem

IMO the extra lvls are the biggest mistake blizzard can make.. there will be excessive amount of whining and complaining, although, it might actually make MC/BWL doable by raid groups that DON'T have the best of the best eq already..

in the server i play, there's only one guild that has even tried to conquer BWL, and they've failed, all players are 60, and they don't invite anymore ppl in the guild, they're elite players with elite eq etc. and they still haven't been able to beat nefarian.. those +10lvls should make raids easier to "normal ppl" who don't have the best of the best if they keep the places the same, and don't raise their difficulty..

i just hope the game won't fail..

I read on the official forum that the xp you could have earned at lvl 60 will not be taken into account when levelling to 70. I think that's fair, otherwise those who have been lvl 60 for months by now would jump to lvl 70 instantly, considering the xp and rest bonus they earned during those months...

I'd be suprised if they took into account the XP that you gained during L60 (I'm not sure they even calculated it).
However, the usage of the word fair I don't agree with. The people who have been L60 all this time have perhaps played their L60 character and would have gained (a lot) XP.
Simply because they now choose to increase the levels to 70 shouldn't penalizeing these people, who couldn't further their characters for months in terms of XP. (Sure other factors such as money, items and knowlegde also exists, however, this is looking at the XP "gain").
So I don't think it is fair for older players - long time L60s - that their gains and time aren't rewarded by getting to keep their XP.

It is perhaps the only logical solution, but I wouldn't deem it fair at all.

I still see it good, otherwise these players would simply jump tp lvl 70 without doing any quests and adventuring... It would take them nothing to get to lvl 70, besides, they would miss a LOT from the game.

I wonder what the exp requirement will be for each lvl... As I recall, lvl 60 took 200k xp... Will it be 300k, 400k and so on til something like 1000k at lvl 70...? Might take as long to go through those 10 lvls as it took to get to lvl 60 :speech:

what is the point of increasing the lvl cap when you hit the lvl when you install the expansion?? i mean.. then you will just get more powerfull, and not experience the game from 60-70...

then there would be no need to add those 10 lvls... i think that one reason that they add them is becouse some people dont think the game is still the same fun when you have hit lvl 60, and dont get xp any more.. much more fun when you get xp.
I once had a little teaparty, this afternoon at three, twas was very small, three guests in all; I, myself, and me. myself ate up the sandwhiches, while i drank up the tea. twas also i that ate the pie,and passed the cake to me :D

Months of playing in existing content at level 60 is not "nothing". It is a dedication to a character.
If they would miss content? Well - when I played there were many L60 characters who had missed a lot of the existing content leveling to 60, so I don't see how this would be different. Then you can claim that they miss a lot of the game as well - and essential I agree - but isn't that infact their choice?

If that were true for everybody, then people wouldn't XP-rush to get to level cap. For many people the game started mainly when they reached level cap and started worrying about raiding the dungeons. Many of the people I played with in guild rushed to level 60, to get into the high end dungeons.

Not everybody enjoys the hacking for XP; some enjoy the raiding, PvP etc and for thoese having to kill monsters for XP is just a delay until they can start the end-games.
I read on the official forum that the xp you could have earned at lvl 60 will not be taken into account when levelling to 70. I think that's fair"]

Well to start off, I am a hardcore player/super geek call it what you like. And I have done most of the big quests at 60. You know, the ones that give 10 000+ exp. Those questlines are long, and have no doubt given me a whole lot of exp. I have also played alot, "gaining" exp by fighting regular mobs, both in instances, and outside. I have been lvl 60 for more than 20 ingame days (not alot compared to others I know) that's 20 out of 40 played totally... That's alot of "gained/lost" exp.

So if a player gets to lvl 59 just as the expansion comes out, and the cap is raised to lvl 70. He can still do the quests I did, do the instances I've done, and kill the mobs I've killed. And get the exp I didn't get!!

How can that be (as you said) fair? Should I (and many others) be penalized for being dedicated players, that played the game from the start?

Please don't call it fair..

Should I (and many others) be penalized for being dedicated players, that played the game from the start?
We are not being penalized for having played for 40+ days, but we are not rewarded for it either. Besides no matter how many quests you do, the fastest way to level up is by grinding and when grinding it doens't metter which quests you do and don't do. It might not be as much fun, but it is faster.

@Grimar, it doesn't really matter if the max level is at 60 or 70. As long as there is a level cap people will reach it and they will complain that there is nothing to gain from the game after it. For me the game starts at level 60, everything below it is just mindless grinding.
