Dungeon Siege II

Post by mammu »

Hi! Mammu here. I have been trying for over a week to kill the dragon on the roof but cannot do it without getting killed almost every time. I am getting very frustrated because I really want to finish this very good game. Is there a way to send only one of my party to the ballista and fire it without the rest of my party following? Have I missed something somewhere? I have read the manual and am following the Prima Strategy Guide. I need all the help I can get since I am a 62 year old grandmother and need to follow step-by-step directions. If someone could help me with this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Mammu

You could try looking at our walkthrough for the quest. That might help you out.

Also, there are four modes you can put your party in using the hotkeys 7-0 (for some reason the button on the interface only toggles between two of them). I think I used "rampage" mode when I killed the dragon.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Granny shouldn't be playing

Old, 62 year old grandmothers should be wearing fire resistant underwear. See to it that you have a high fire resistance wearing rings, amulets, books, armour or even weapons, which increase this value. Maximum here is 80%.

More important however is that grandmother has to be a very cool grandmother. Leave your party behind (either set them waiting or send them away) and fight the dragon on your own. Do not fight the other monsters. Just walk around them while waiting for the dragon to rest. The dragon's fire will harm them, too. When you managed to fire a shot try to reset the ballista into its center position. You then do not need to move it more than twice next time the dragon rests. This will give grandmother someting to do while the monsters are going after her. They are about as fast as 62 year old grandmothers.

If you do not know how to make your party wait see the options menu for controls. There somewhere you can assign a key to that command. Only [f]ollow and [g]o are assigned by default. Granddad does not know why the others have been left out and set them to [q] for wait and [x] for guard.

So, I hope this helps and if not ask again and report some of your progress.

Thank you, Sven. I finally figured everything out with your help and killed the dragon. I learn something new every time I play these games. Thanks again.
