The dark side

We al have to agree the dark side is cool. I mean come on, when have you ever seen a LS Jedi ever weilding a double-bladed lightsaber. Plus the dark side powers are wicked. Also the dark side has no responsibilities and no limitations.
The only reasons you would want to be LS is because of Mace Windu and his elegant violet lightsaber or Master Yoda with his unique wisdom, combat techniques and force lightning deflections

Peace out

P.S. LS rules when you're saving the galaxy but DS Rules when you want to have a hell of a time

Sadiki, in the KOTOR series, any Jedi can wield any type of lightsabers, be it dual-bladed or single-bladed. Only in the movies have I not seen any Jedi wield a dual-bladed lightsaber except Darth Maul.

About the DS force powers, I totally agree with your statement. DS powers are more deadly than that of the LS powers, though as for me, I rarely use any force powers even when playing LS. Leave that mostly to a consular in my team to do the job.

The reason I choose LS is not because of Mace Windu's violet lightsaber or Master Yoda's ability but because, heck, I seem to be geared towards the light. I also prefer LS because its more challenging compared to DS.

Simply said - DS is overpowered in KotOR games. Second - not evryone has an ill lust for power, so being super-powerful, with no limitations\responsibilities is not fun to evrybody.

In this forest death rules

Grim as stone, ride to the deathfields... Blackness and doom

It's all about The Badass

People love to play DS for the same reasons people love Vader and especially Boba Fett. Because Vader and Boba Fett are badas, and it's way more badass to be DS than the LS. I mean, I always do LS things, but I personally find it way more fun to go with your emotions and stuff than waiting and evaluating the situation (if you want to go into full detail.) Also there's the fact that DS has much more powerful moves than the LS, and not to mention (if you want to get into governments) the LS is more of a democracy, while the Sith faction and the DS is a straight up Despotism with a kickass apprentice who'll probably kill you.

Yes, I find it mean to kill a woman just for stealing things in her room like everyone else should (all over KOTOR I and II) but at the same time I find it much more fun to attack an enemy than talk to it (like to me, the whole Juhani thing kinda sucked.)

It just revolves around the fact that the DS is all about killing the weakness and the weak emotions of people and going on rage and power and wit to destroy your enemies with. It's just more badass.

I haven't read every single post in this thread, so sorry is some of this is repetitive. I had a hard time playing dark side, not because of any moral objections, but because it didn't totally make sense to me. Yeah, force storm and crush are cool, but random killing with no logic or strategy involved has no appeal for me. Overall, I found dark side a LOT less fun. I never played full dark in the first KOTOR and in KOTOR 2, it took me a loooooooong time to get dark side mastery because I couldn't see the point in killing or even just being cruel to some people. I think you get a lot less story playing dark side, with the exceptions of what you get with a high influence with HK and Hanharr. I also think it was a somewhat unbalanced veiw of the Sith. When my character did something particularly cruel and Kreia called it psychotic, I had to agree. To me, a true dark sider/Sith manipulates events to their best advantage which is why when I tried to play full dark in KOTOR 2, I spent most of the time being neutral.

Although I enjoyed playing DS I agree totally with you. It seems like they could not be bothered developing the DS path more so just made you into a pyschopath instead. Hopefully in Kotor 3 they will think a bit more about the DS choices etc.

I love Dark Side and Light Side. I love to see how the endings vary, how the fate of your companions may drastically change. Plus I find it neat how the face changes. Plus I love using the dark side powers such as the lightning and as a Dark Sider it takes less FP to use it, more bang for the buck.

Ds

Lol i might seem cruel saying this, but the Ds is thrilling. Weve all seen the happy movies of the light side prevailing, i dont know if its just me but id like to see the Ds win for once, like in Kotor 1 i find the Ending alot more fun. I uno maybe im just weird, but to me Ds is more fun to play especially if its the 1st time, finding out how everyting unfolds differently. :D

i think that when you play ds, you get to make more money which means you can get whatever you want (not really, but close). when i play ds, i tend to still be helpful while still getting darkside points. i didnt have fun being evil in both games but some of the things you can do to get ds points were funny.

I played each side at least three times and I find that light is generaly better, but not allways. One thing good about dark side is revenge!:mischief: If someone keep annoying me and sabotages everything I do am I supposed to just politely ask him to stop? Or turn on my lightsaber, carnage him and hang his pieces on the wall? And why can't Jedi have emotions? I love emotions, there is no life worth living witout them. One more thing: I hate Master Vrook! If he's light side I'm Al Capone. In both first and second KotOR he's arrogant and ignorant. He doesn't know anything and he acts as if he knows everything. When I play dark side, I really look forward to meeting him. I just wish if he could actually get sold by mercenaries.

And THAT is just so good about kotOR 1 and 2, you are the one who chooses which side prevails, you want the bad guys too prevail? ok no problem.

In Kotor1, I think the ending and gameplay is so much more fun as DS, but in Kotor2 I think the LS is actually better as the DS really skips much of the explanation of the story. I find the DS fun to play for most of the reasons other people have stated, but after playing it in Kotor2, I had to play as LS just to fully understand what actually happened to the Exile.

naah... at least I think exactly the oposite. in KotOR 1 it seemed better to finish on the LS. when u turn u still have to fight the same foe. besides it's like a... iduno... a cinematic experience. in the firs Star Wars from a trilogy the first episode ends with the LS victorious. In KotOR II, on the other hand it seemed more interesting on the DS. the LS seemed a little lame. I mean your caracter was just too light (almost crying at the sunset :P ). I miself, on the DS understood the story better. and the DS from K2 didn't seem THAT cruel sa in K1. it was a more neutral DS. Remember when Kreia "turned" on u on Dantoeen? she was desepointed that u only saw the DS as cruelty and power, not understanding all perspectives of the Force, just the "urge" to leave it in darkness. it was more wise.
so basicly it doesen't matter if u finished DS first and understood better the second time on LS. it's just that u didn't understood it the first time and now u understand it the second time (trust me, it hapenes). it hapened to me too.

again, forgive the incorect spelling...

From my point of view, the DS Kotor1 makes more sense. Revan was lied to and manipulated by the Jedi and when she turns DS she is not turning on the Republic but more turning on the Jedi. The ending with Malak makes sense as it is no longer about defeating the Sith, but reclaiming the mantle of Sith Lord so she can rule over the Sith once more. As long as Malak is alive she cannot do this so she wants revenge.

As for Kotor2, I agree that the second or third time through any game often helps the understanding (its this reason that I usually play games several times at least, as well as because I enjoy them). However, I felt from playing Kotor 2 many times that the LS offers more insight into what actually happened to the Exile, while the DS just gives more of an insight into Kreia. This is my point of view, but for me the LS makes more sense in Kotor2 as I don't see the Exile as a DS character, just someone who was cut off from the force but did not understand why and, to me, its more about the Exile trying to make sense of events and deal with what happened in the war than about getting revenge or Kreia's manipulation. To me the whole Kreia thing is just a subplot. Thats just the way I see the game.

Really? Hmm. That is something to ponder about. :) Anyway, the weird thing about people's rendition of how Revan chose the light side path is quite different. For example, in KOTOR 1, Revan was wiped of his/her memory and was given a new identity. In KOTOR 2 however, when talking with GO-TO, he mentioned that Revan was persuaded to fight for the light side (if you chose Revan as LS)

Wholly agree with you here. Luckily for me, I played as LS only for KOTOR 2. :D
