Oh, I get it, when you said landing on malachor V and fighting malak, I thot you meant in the next game you should land on malachor V and then fight malak on that planet. Didn't pick up on the seperation of ideas. Was wondering why you didn't know that malachor V was blown up. haha

Kotor 3

Sorry for the short post with with no explanation but i really don't think it should be turnbased again, it takes most of the action out of it, i think they should take a page from Morrowind Oblivion, now thats a good game, not that i didn't really enjoy KOTOR 1 and 2 but hey.

I don't mind if the game goes real-time like some RPGs like Oblivion, Morrowind, Fable and a slew of other RPGs out there. Its just that controlling your team might be a hassel. If they made use of some of the team-based mechanics found in team-based shooters (1st or 3rd person) like Ghost Recon, Freedom Fighters, Republic Commando or SWAT 4, it would make team management a lot better. :)

P.S. Oh crap! 660th post. Almost near the bad number mark. :p

There already plenty of games that arent turn based, I get my fix of hack and slash from those games, I prefer this series as a turn based combat game, I like to have time to think ahead, and plan and execute strategies as opposed to mashing the 'A' or 'R' butons repeatedly until my foe dies.

Ok first, as for the actual controls of the game. Many of us still have the actual Xbox (and 360) and therefore don't have to worry about the controls of the game. They may need to consider letting people customize which buttons activate which power, move, etc.

KOTOR has already been setup in a system of turn based with controlling your party step by step. Going away from that may be cool but it isn't keeping in KOTOR and if they did it would be some other version of the game.

I think we should get away from the concepts of - hey wouldn't it be cool if they comepletely retooled the game to go in this direction and get back to what they could actually accomplish in KOTOR III to make it a kick ass game more in keeping with the rest of the series.

Sorry if I come off as a little harsh but I just spent the past hour reading each post for the past 3-5 pages of this thread and they are all about button layout and fable/marrowind/oblivion style fighting types and that isn't what KOTOR is. Especially frustrating when I play KOTOR on my Xbox. I do agree they could make handling your party different but expecting them to remove all control over your party except by orders is un-realistic. I wouldn't mind the fable qualities of fighting whomever you want and actually having action be the answer to battles. Meaning you don't stop in the middle of a fight to talk, you just start walking away and that decides it for you.

I also agree with the fighting styles, disagree with losing limbs, tatoos could be cool but not overly nessessary.

I strongly disagree with the entire propsed about the double lightsaber hilts. If I understand it correctly it is proposed that one colour - and effects - be on one end and another be on the other of a double blade? No. Double blades were already supposed to be more slash for the swing and if they increased that effect then maybe.
Also I want the single blade specialization to become better. I hate when I try to keep with one blade the entire game while kicking myself that I didn't go double and get more damage.

Why can't we go to Curracant? If they base the game say 5-10-20 years later they could have some semblence of a rebuilt order on Curracent. I wouldn't even mind if they were New Jedi masters sitting on the council. I would actually be kind of pissed if the Cathar or any of my other teammates from KOTOR II sat on the council. I mean I trained them - yes I know that in the story I obviously won't have but still - and to see them in a place of so much power over me would just get annoying. That is why when we searched for the missing Jedi I was both happy and sad at what we were doing. Happy at the fact they were Masters of KOTOR I but sad that they looked like Jedi! I mean come-on! A Jedi Master walking around in Jedi robes on Nar Shadaa and I - in my Mandalorian Armour - and the one who gets attacked?
Bao-Dur: I think he wanted us to give up the Genreal to his poorly trained collection of bounty hunters.

Atton: Ah. well that would explain it. Which one do you want?

Bao-Dur: I'll take the stupid one who decided to threaten us rather than shoot us when he had the chance.

heres an idea that im sure will raise some eyebrows and objections but hey... its just a question

who said that K3 has to even be an RPG?

you all seem to want certain things that take the RPG out of it. now, im not saying that it has to be completly obsolete, but this is a real question: does it really HAVE to be an RPG to be completly awsome?

It would be nice to not be the one who the weight of the galaxy's on. I'd like to be able to take over the Sith/Jedi, but I don't wanna have people saying "it's up to you to wipe our butts for us." C'mon, let someone else be "the one."

And I seriously want to take over the Jedi Academy or at least become a master. In KOTOR I all you got was "yay, here's a medal, we'll call you if we need you" if you were light, but dark was "all hail the return of revan, dark lord of the sith." That hardly seems fair. I'd like to either demolish the Jedi, or become high ranked. And I know I've said this before, but why can't we take over the Republic? Odds are this is the last segment of this series, why not have us take control. Not destroy the Republic, that'd interfere w/ the movies and how the Republic lasted "for thousands of years."

I don't know about the others but to me, the reason why I really dislike the member switching method is because its frustrating to me after a while. Sure both KOTOR's member switching mechanics are okay but it gets a bit irritating, to me, after a while. And about the point where you only control your main character and the others are controlled by the AI, Kingdom Hearts is an action RPG that uses this mechanic and yet they managed to pull it off successfully. So, it might not be that impossible to implement after all. :)

Now that's an unorthodox idea. Sure some of my ideas posted here are kind of unorthodox for an RPG to have but to be honest, I never really dreamt of removing the RPG aspect of the KOTOR series let alone even changing the type of game into like some 3rd person action game for example. Yeah there is a possibility that it may be successful if they (the developers) turn it into some other type of game but doing so will alienate a number of players in one way or the other.

What I really wanted is to retain the RPG side of KOTOR but they could also implement game mechanics that made other games successful like the team-management and orders of Freedom Fighters and Republic Commando for example.

I think they should make the influence thing more convincing. For example, if you have high influence with Bao-Dur and you are dark side, then he is dark side too, so why does he still object when you kill people? And they should change ways to gain influence, cause if you just do what they like, then it's not you influencing them, but the other way around.

I agree with you on the influence being just a tool in kotor 2 to learn people's stories (hope thats what you were trying to say), and i do believe that the "problem" could be fixed. depending on the amount of influence, it goes into an equation that depending on your actions with either make the person like you and follow you allignment, or not want to talk to you and might even leave the party.

I would like to see bigger worlds with more cities like sw galaxies but like a fifth the size. Also I think it would be cool to have during the fighting be like jade empire.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. They all talk about you influencing people, but you don't get anything out of it. I take Aton to light side and he still likes killing. Disciple is the worst. He talks like dark sider, but when you say something like that he says he approves and you lose influence. Where's the logic? And higher influence you have with everyone, they are just betraying you more and more. It's just not influence, it's something else.

ok.lets start. First of all sorry about my english cuz i am from Serbia and Montenegro. Second, I found out this site before 1 month when I was searching for some text about Kotor. Since then I have read almost everything about what u want in Kotor III, and I have seen a lot of great ideas from all of you. So i decided to say what I want in Kotor III. Like someone said before fighting with a lightsaber should be more deadly. More dodging , but one direct hit and enemy ( or you ) should be dead or without a body part. I want fight to be EXCITING. I mean in kotor I and II , fighting is like - I hit him, he hit me,I hit him, he miss me, I hit him - he is dead. Where's the fun ? I was playing the end of the first kotor ( when u fight Malak ) about 10 times just to have a decent fight. But that is the another problem - decent fight from the most powerful dark jedi. Nothing spectacular, nothing special, nothing to remember. So enemies and bosses should be more difficult. And like everyone said : Give us ending, a decent ending. And I think that engine is a kinda "poor". Improving it would be great. Also i like funny quests like the one on Dantoine, when the robot is hiding from the women who treats him as her husband. I would add biger cities and more planets to my wishlist.

Sorry again for my english ( I know it's bad ) and speaking without any order but I was just writing what I was thinking in the moment. I will post again when I have new ideas or wishes.

I hope that Kotor III will be out soon.

I think KOTOR needs to work on the effects of battle. Like, if you fight a weak NPC, they should have visible damage to their body. If you fight a stronger NPC, you won't cause physical damge without some effort , so you have to work on an area to see massive physical damage( Kinda like a boxer turning his opponents eye into a puffy, bloody mess from hitting it alot). That's also why I think the battle mechanics should be more like Morrowind, Oblivion, or Fable.

Do you want it more realtime based fighting?

Morrowind, Oblivioin, and Fable have different fighting systems

Elder scrolls doesnt give you commands for people that follow you, so thats one problem.

Fable's fighting was great for the game, but kotor shouldnt change the way it is played. It has been a turnbased/realtime RPG, and i think that improvements could be made to make the game flow better but i dont want the style to change at all. if you change the style, then it's no longer a kotor game.

True, but they could at least show more realistic battle damage as I said earlier

dont think it would be a cool game if the take oblivoins or fables fighting system, i think the old fighting system is cool. beside i think that if they take some new fighting system, you will not feel as a kotor game.

Well, when you come to think about it, it actually looks very realistic the way it is. When taking a blaster shot you can dodge it, be missed by opponent, or get shot and be saved by armor (in the last case you loose VP, but it looks as if you weren't hurt). When dueling with melee weapons it looks just like a real sword fight: even when he hits you, it still looks as if you blocked it. You can just imagine that VP is your stamina you use for blocking and dodging attacks and enjoy realistic fight. They should only work on melee vs. ranged duels, cause only there you see the melee guy hit the ranged guy, but really, it's not that bad.

I agree with you, Obrad. Actually, I don't mind if the next KOTOR is either real-time or turn-based. Just a thought: I don't remember seeing a team-based real-time RPG as far as I know (or I could be wrong). Maybe if they're going real time, they could use the command system in Republic Commando such as clicking a button to direct someone to access a door panel or hack into consoles as an example.

Another idea of mine. I don't know if this idea was mentioned before but do you think that having radio stations in KOTOR will be a good idea? This idea is from the Grand Theft Auto series (GTA) where there are a lot of radio stations in their locales. I know it might not sound feasible due to the fact that every planet have their collection of radio stations and if you factor in the number of planets out there, the number of radio stations will be numerous and hard to pull off. Just giving each planet one radio station, on the other hand, might make people wonder if the populace of that planet just listens to one radio station only.

EDIT: Had to do some corrections in my post and remove some statements I've mentioned previously.
