I click on the piece of wood from the cage, but I can't seem to pick it up or it won't go into my inventory. What am I doing wrong????

Before you pick it up, empty your hands by placing your sword, staff, axe, bow in the inventory ......

Also make sure your inventory is not full.

lol, same thing happend 2 me and i got crazy ... the thing is, u need to break the cage, then u need to click again on it, and the fragment will be available as item, pick it up and PUT IT as ur meelee weapon, than go to the fire and then burn down the morden tower.... reasons for PROBLEMS are ... u put the weapon in ur hand but ACTIVE WEAPON IS STILL MAGIC (or something else) ... u need to CHOOSE the active weapon to be meele....as my active was some natural magic ... daaaamn i was trying for 10 minutes to burn it down and nothing happedn :laugh:

Yeah as said you need to break the cage first
oh and you might want to know there is a second quest about the towers
i can't remember where you get it though
Oh yeah it's from the nature mage in Eirulan
Shes in the great hall
You have to have her with you to get the quest
