Can't start Deru's Quest

I can't find the guy south of the pet shop to start Deru's quest. All he talks about is the asassin. I would appreciate any help.

Go down the hill behind the pet shop and to your right is a path down to where the prospector is standing. The path is easy to miss but it goes down and to the left is where he is standing. Hope this helps

Don't worry i don't think here quest is all that prosperous but it's good to see all parts of the game.
