Dragon doesn't appear at balistra!

Post by Richard Savage »

Hi guys,
I'm stuck on killing the dragon at the castle. It wiped my group out, and when I came back after resurrection, the dragon was gone! I've waited around at the balistra but no dragon...killed all the mobs in the castle, talked
to the Captain again, and gotten orders to use it to kill the dragon, but when
my group gets up to the tower, no dragon? Anyone else having the same problem? If so, could you please explain to me how to get it to reappear?
Thanks a lot.

hey Rich

i never had such a problem, but from time to time strange things happend... for example i was in the Kaderak mines fighting the Dark Wizards and after resurection they deside to come down by the elevator :D LOL its funny and crazy i know .... but the game give some bugs from time to time, what u can do is just reload the game and the dragon should be there.... theres no other logical explanation..... once my CM stuck in the middle of Eurulan city. ... JUST STUCK... i open his inventory to send him in the INN and guess what ... HIS WHOLE INVENTORY DISSAPEAR :D LOL...but after i rehire him from the INN everything was on its place....reload dude...and good luck ;)

By reload do you mean reinstalling the game without deleting it? I don't want
to start the game all over again! It's particularly frustrating because I can't progress from there, the Commander has to open the gate for me to do that,
and she won't do it unless the Dragon is killed. I bought the expansion, and it
won't let me play it until I've finished DS II at mercenary level, so I am in a bind. I'm assuming that reinstalling the game won't delete the saved position,
at least I'm hoping that.

i ment only to restart the game but u probably did this already...in this case yeah u can reinstall DS2 but ... keep ur saved games in another folder, by default they are kept in C:\Documents and Settings\Smurf\My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2\Save ......... or C:\Documents and Settings\Smurf\My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World\Save ..... if this ALSO cant help ya...well my friend just choose 1 of the ready made characters provided with BROKEN WORLD, u got 6 guys (1 assasin, 1 fist ot stone, knight, sorc, nature mage ...and 1 more dude i forgot whos he)... and play directly on Broken World...but in this case u loosing the adventure and all that... anyway its up to u

hmmm, I'm not really that computer literate, how do I move the saved games to another file and then reload them once the game is deleted and reinstalled?
I really appreciate your advice and council.

ok...heres what u do..

first go in that folder that i told u... C:\Documents and Settings\Smurf\My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2\Save .... then u will see folders SINGLE PLAYER and folder MULTY PLAYER (multyplayer will be there if u ever play multy games, otherwise it will appear only SINGLE PLAYER..... enter this folder click right mouse button on the folder that contains ur HERO information....the folder will have the name of ur HERO (for example mine is ROBIN, so the folder is named ROBIN) ... click right mouse button on it - select COPY ... than drop it on the desktop (or anywhere else) by clicking again right mouse button (on empty desktop space) and select PASTE.... after u have the folder that u need on ur desktop feel free to UNINSTALL the whole DS2 and INSTALL it again...hope that was helpful for ya! :) gl

P.S. If u ALREADY have installed the BROKEN WORLD expansion then u will have 2 folders... C:\Documents and Settings\Smurf\My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2\Save and C:\Documents and Settings\Smurf\My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2 BROKEN WORLD\Save you just have to check them both where is ur Character folder and proceed with the rest as i said. ;)

Well, I deleted the game, and the expansion broken world, and reinstalled it,
and the dragon STILL doesn't reappear. Guess I'll have to do the expansion with the pre-made characters. It's too bad, I was 2/3rd's of the way thru DSII, and was having a blast. I notice that the expansion Broken World doesn't give you a quest when you start, does anyone know what's up with that? I also don't have any other party members, and the innkeeper says that
I can't have more than four? I ended up buying a couple of pets to serve as party members, am wandering around the desert looking for someone to give me a quest. I love the graphics and the sound of the game, but I'm disappointed that the bug stopped me from finishing it.

Try this:

http://www.htheking.de/dragfix.zip

- unzip the file "ds2InstallDir"/Ressources Directory (quit a few .ds2res files there)
- make sure that the quest is active
- speak to the commander again (with the quest active)

This will skip the fight but should solve the problem.

If not I think there's another solution out there, but I'd have to look for it, so let me know.

Or an even longer explanation can be found here.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the help....but one question. I'm not the most computer literate person on this board, where do I find those files that you told me to
unzip? I appreciate your helping me.

D'OH! <gives himself a Homer slap> I read on and finally figured out how to do it. It shows that computers are idiot proof. I did miss the big Dragon fight
but killed him later on in the keep. Thanks a million for the help guys, I knew that this board would pay dividends! I really love DS II, I'm glad my brother talked me into buying it, and I even bought the expansion. Any rumors on a follow-up to this game?

No problem, happy that it worked. If you run into a glitch it's good to search this place first, chance is someone already ran into it, and there is an answer/solution hopefully.

It's a good game, I liked the original DS too but I don't think we'll see DSIII soon. I think there's every chance there will be one, but first I expect maybe another expansion pack at least. It'll take time.
