How am I doing as far as gear goes? (Spoiler)

Post by spacedogg »

I'm a level 29 Summoner. I've just gotten to the Babylon area of the game. Here's a pic of my current gear, current stats, and skill windows (Earth) (Nature). I feel like I'm getting my butt whooped when it comes to this area of the game. It seems like the monsters are much much tougher. I summon my 2 wolves and a earth elemental and I have to heal them often.

1st, do I need to have better gear? If so, what should I be looking for?

2nd, should I be spreading out my skill points differently?

a nature summoner isalso THE healer, so you should get fast to the last skill in the healling wind tree and also you need a high mana gegen rate and theres a good relic for that :) you dont need that much dex and str (you just need high int) in your weapons slot you should put any item that gives you the abouve requierments~
also dont use uncomplited relics> its a total waste! and download the program TQ VAULT so you can really manage your inventory.
i dunno much about summoners so thats all :)

EDIT: you dont need more then 150 dex TOTAL and you dont need str AT ALL.
also I JUST TRIED WOLVES AND THEY ARE WEAKKKK!

i rly suggest start a new char!

ok i think that your build is totaly bad:speech:

*stats - u are having all around 200-250 -> nonsence, try all in INT and something in DEx (maybe u will get enough form your masteries...)

*skills - i didnt try wolves (and nature masteriy, cuz it looks weak/weird/boring for me) - but i tried core dweller with my Conjurer and it was only stupid tank for me and my Lich king ....
at least put some skill points to Earth enchant (it will buff your summoned mobs too) and to Volcanic orb (and this tree) - cuz orb with fragments can help a lot to your mob
and finally - its useless have wolf/dweller on 16 - so much points so fast...

*eq - i think u are having low armors (me too, alltiems:laugh: ) but bigger trouble - wizz with bow/saber -> thats stupid - u have earth mastery/enchantment -> use some Staff of fire with prometheus rune for more fire dmg and with Earth enchant, much more better.... your lightning attempts are lil crazy

*final hint - u cant change your stats now, so its better start again... :D

-and about TQ vault - thats seriously for n00bs, game isnt made for that kind of playing, this is only for loosers/cheaters - cuz u can use get it all patch, to collect all sets by your choice, u can make clones, .... etc - and where is point then???? yeah u can be overpowered on beginning - and it will be seriously boring, but i see that! its point for most ppl on forum, so do it and then come back with stupid questions - what stats for this or that char etc...? u are killing main fun from this game by your pathetic gaming style :p

KillboRO,
As a matter of fact, if you only use TQ vault for storage and transferring items from one char to another, it can be very useful indeed. I'm all against cheating or duping or any such nonsense what so ever, but if you don't know anyone else playing the game, it wouldn't be as fun with as without the vault.

For example, finding the greatest caster armour with your Conquerer doesn't sound as much fun if you can't transfer it to another char.

but grats, that was very constructive and great use of grammar and vocabulary.

As for spacedogg, they do have a point. Just being all passive with summons won't cut it in this game. If you do use summons, use them as a tank, but i wouldn't really rely on them for damage.

Your stats tell me you're trying to do a lot at once, summoning, bow-using and still wearing the armours made for melee chars. A caster can get by with base strength, none of his items have that requirement. Dex is needed, but only 150-160 tops.
Intelligence, about 400 - 500 if you want to be able to wear all the items. I'd put the rest in health. Or energy for more damage

I would start a new char and really think about what you want to achieve. A caster, bow users, melee, ... Just keep TitanCalc by stonedonkey - A Titan Quest Calculator 'ing till you find a really nice build :)

You could try volcanic orb abd the line with reath enchanment for damage, Core dweller to tank for you (not so for damage, so don't invest in the core-dweller-damage-skills), volativity for extra damage, heart of oak and permanance of stone for defence. And use a fire staff for more damage.

TQ Vault: Cheaters tool.

Titan Calc: what's the point? So I can add points to the different catagories... I can do that at the Mystic.

Gold: What's the use in this game? All the good gear is obtained from looting and farming the named mobs.

Ranting: I'm done.

Thanks for the advice folks. I think I'l start over and stay a single mastery to get a feel for them and combine the two I like the most.

spacedogg..

TQVAULT is a tool that fixes a big problem that the gamemakers didnt even notice... they didnt think anyone want to save his favorate stuff and they didnt think that at the high lvls youll need alot of potions too.. if youll just open youer eyes youll see every other game as atlist obe vault you can alwayz use! and the fact that you can get all your 400 healing potions into one slot is very importnet!!!! cause if not youll have zero space for any kind of item.
i am against the fact that you can reuse your monstercharms, relics but thats not that importnet..

about gold.. the best rings, amulets youll get untill legendery are in the merchants! (if youll even have the luck to grab on a good legendery amulet for your char)
every time your at the town you should stop by the merchants and look for a better ring, amulet!! i for myself got a +25%str +25 dex +6% health amulet and much more stuff even better! and they all took me like 500K t0 1.5mill... i also got at the merchat an amulet that increases your exp in 30% and that amulet took me 18mill.
hmm and also, untill you wont get a good epic, legend weapon or armor thatll suit you, youll have only the merchants.. and courently my assassin is using two fast "recless power" swords that are better then any other epic weapon(i'm playing at epic)

youre trying to go head to head with that game and not playing it.

My last 4 staves all came from merchants. Thundering whatever-staff of the tempest.

As a matter a fact, the highest damage weapons are all rare, so you'll have same chances at the merchants. Some legendary weapons are really cool, but rares can get pretty crazy.
Pair of gloves: 25% elemental resistance, +33 strength, +3 to all skills. Rare

I don't use the potion stacking, but it's a nice feature...

and as for titan cac, i like to have my build before i actually start playing, that way i can start with the masteries i want. You can switch points at the mystic, but not masteries. This way i can, ermmm, maximize the fun and minimize the frustration of having a crappy build

I've kinda approached this game like I did when I played EQ. I was a druid so my best spells were always DOT spells. I treat my summons like DOTs. I'll heal them when needed, or summon a new one if I need it, but I'm not in the game to do maximum damage, I'm there to ensure my DOTs can do the damage. I've killed both Telkine's and all the other mini and boss mobs this way, sometimes it takes me a couple of tries, but I'll kill 'em eventually... that freakin' level 17 (Alistair or something like that) boss down in the bottom of Athens gave a little bit of trouble, I tell you what.

I'll also put points in to the Sylvan Nymph when I get a chance, to add more damage.

Seems like the way I built my character might not have been built the "correct" way for some of you, but I'm getting by and having fun doing it too. That to me is the whole point of the game, to have fun.

Thanks to all of you for replying to my post, if anyone else has a thought, please let me know.

PS...

I don't play online with anyone, I only play single player games. If that makes a difference.
