Stats for a Battlemage?

I'm confused on this. Currently @Lv 46. I've been investing 66% of my stat points into Strength and 33% into Dexterity. But, I find that the Battlemage sets are geared for Intelligence stats....Did I make a mistake? A front line melee character can't put points into Intelligence as heavier (higher AC) needs to be priority. Melee weapons requiring a good Strength investment are a neccesity..."Iron Lore" didn't expect us to use staves for our BM's...did they? Plus, without higher dexterity it is harder to hit things and dodge. Confused?

Did I screw up my BM? Or will there be other good-non-set, epic/legendary uniques that can help my BM (being Strength/Dexterity equipment)? When dual wielding 2 Ether Swords I had a chance to lower the equipment stat requirements by 30%, but now I found 2 Purple Sword of Domocoles...so I lose that 30%Reduction to all requirements. And my base Intelligence of 50 is boosted by +96Intelligence from maxed out Earth Mastery...plus +40 Intelligence from other equipment (Total = 186 Intelligence)...so I can't really use Intelligence equipment anymore. Am I okay where I'm at, or am I screwed?

Is Prometheus' Gift (unique legendary mace) and the Phoenix (unique legendary axe) the only weapons a DW-Battlemage has to look forward to for good fire damage? Is this a joke? Why no unique fire swords? Lord Ceth is an excellent sword for a Thane or Paladin build. Why no serious Fire Sword(s)?
Did they, Iron Lore, add new weapons or re-mod some old epic/legendary weapons with some serious fire damage in this latest patch? Or do I have nothing to look forward to for my BM? It's getting harder to push myself to play the BM, if I'm screwed. I knew I should have played the builds that have good equipment layed out for them. *sigh*

theres a ring in the game that reduce the requierments to zero and theres lots of +20% intelegence (and much more)

you can alwayz start putting your points in intelegence ^^

Ive got a battlemage and i think its one of the most rubbish characters in the game, u have to spread ur points between strength for base damage and intelligence for elemental damage, plus find some fire damage rings, they help loads but im struggling in legendary with my battlemage so if i were u id scrape him, lol, ive been trying to delete his 2nd mastery selection for ages now but cant work it out.

It's funny how politcal correctness is going to damn us all in the end. To each their own hell(s).

Anyways,
I've recanted on cursing my Strength-melee-Battlemage. I've found that the +21% physical damage bonus from Brimstone and Onslaught's +50% physical damage probably makes my Battlemage stronger than a pure Intelligence-melee-Battlemage. It's hard finding raw elemental damage equipment. Plus, many uniques mainly have a +XX% Elemental damage...or a +XX% to invoke a certain raw number of elemental damage. It's just not worth it to put points into Intelligence. At least thats my take on it.
