Help me play with patch 1.15

Post by mtfbwy »

I just build a new PC (2.4 Core 2 Duo, 2 gigs of RAM, 8800 GTS) and played some TQ - standard install, no patches - and everything worked fine.

After hooking the new rig up to the net and installing antivirus, firewall and getting all the latest Windows updates I could no longer play the game (when I click the TQ shortcut it just doesn't proceed to load the game. Same thing if I start up the disk and click 'Play Titan Quest').

I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the game, with the same results.

Then I downloaded the 1.20 patch and was able to run the game again.

Now, after finishing the game I don't want to play it with the 1.20 patch, so I uninstalled it and tried with the 1.08 patch, the 1.11 patch and the 1.15 patch - and I wasn't able to start the game with any of those (just to check, I then upgraded to the 1.20, and sure enough it still works with that).

But I don't want to play with that patch (for various reasons). Any ideas on how I get the game to work with any of the previous patches? (Or just the basic install, as that worked fine for me initially.)

install the game, download the standalone patch 1.5, install that.

use tqdefiler or tqvault to patch the savegame and you should be good to go

TQvault won't install. After installing TQdefiler I still can't run the game (and I need to have the game open to use TQdefiler, right?)

Btw, I don't need to play with the 1.15 patch like the thread title suggests - I just want to play without the 1.20 patch (the basic 1.01 install which worked fine initially would be good enough).

Any ideas?
