Question about Rogues
Question about Rogues
Alright I recently rolled a Blood Elf Rogue - and here's my problem... when I was leveling up, I always made a point of wearing 'of the Tiger' more than anything else, simply because I thought that since Agility and Strength both give you attack power - it would be profitable.
Now I'm a 70 level Rogue 'Sedos' in Auchindoun and my question is... why does all the high level gear have Agility and Stamina? Why do Rogues need HP? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Agility and Strength?
I understand perfectly the arguments that say Agility is better than Strength for Rogues, and that's fully understandable and I agree - but Strength is definetly better than Stamina for rogues - why wouldn't they want to have it?

What Grimar sais is true. Stamina generally becomes more important in a lot of TBC encounters. Much more importantly though. Blizzard has slapped a whole of stamina on everything so PVP fights take longer and thus "skill" should become more important.
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

Obviously - I know that Staomia gives HP - I have played the game for 6 months now ^^; but what I meant was obviously if a Rogue does damage then the gear should be Agi Str based. I can see the advantage to having more life, but when you think of a rogue he's not supposed to be some beef-cake able to take on a ton of punishment, he's supposed to ba a wiry-muscled assassin able to kick anything's butt.
But I suppose the PvP idea about making it last longer does many sense, though I'd ask then why Mages have Int and Sta when they should have Int and Spi - Oh well.

Yes, I currently have a 68 Orc Hunter, and believe me, even as a Hunter, high Stamina IS A MUST.
Many enemies, namely bosses, hit like Mack trucks and leave you reeling, whether they hit you in melee or with ranged attacks of any type (including spells).
If you find any, I'd suggest gear that has "of the Bandit" on it. It has + to Agility, Stamina, and Attack Power if I'm not mistaken.

lf the bandit gear is trash at 70
The Armory
thats my armory profile right there. You get plenty of AP from level 70, 5man dungeon blues. But now that i've started raiding Kara, I'll be decked out in the professor plums in no time. If you are having trouble figuring out why stamina is important to your rogue perhaps you shouldnt read too much into the stats at all and just go for what looks right/feels right to you.
I don't mean that to sound harsh but once you've hit 70 if you don't see it, you probably never will. All throughout leveling my gear was of the Monkey and 60-70 i was in all blues, epics and of the Bandit.
I realize I'm currently specced shadow step and some talented rogues may find that laughable but its a test run for 2v2 arena because I wasnt feeling the 30/0/31. And for raiding I spec 15/41/5 combat daggers as well as for 5mans(occasionally 7 or 9 into Sub for MoD and Imp Sap.)

No offense taken - anyway this is my Character Sheet for some reason it's quite faulty so you might have to replace 'sheet' in the url with 'talents' otherwise it might not load. Dunno why Armory does that to my character in particular when I can look at any other without any problem *shrugs*
Anyway I plan on going with some constant DPS Build, probably combat heavy with a tiny bit of Assassination just like you have there. But about the Stamina thing that's fine, I get it now. And it's pretty understandable.

As a 70 druid who raided as a healer and respecced feral I can say this:
You need stamina as a rogue more then any other class except tanks!
Healer PoV: you die too soon and tanks/healers have priority to heal. AoE and overaggro and you are dead before I can heal if you don't have enough HP.
Cat/DPS PoV: Well... same as healer, but I also experience this side of the story. Damage is nice, but < staying alive. You can't always vanish. You are right in the melee where you run the most risk and you have the lowest armor of anyone there!

Guinness is good for you.
Gives you strength.

What do you mean max unarmed and not weapons? When you use Fist Weapons you raise unarmed >.>
And yeah that's cool I get it now. All I need to know now is - which armour set to go for. I'm more of a PvP guy though I intend on staying Combat for sustained DPS on raids.

As a very experienced PvP Rogue on my server, i would say this.
The only benifit Rogues get from Strength is: 1 Strength = 0.99 Attack Power.
(Not even 1)
Whilst Agility gives 1 Attack Power, Critical Strike chance, Dodge chance, and armour.
Stamina? Why do Rogues need stamina? PvP IS ABOUT STAMINA. Stamina is the most important stat ever for every single PvPer out there.
If your going to PvE however.
Go for Hit Rating as your first aim, then Attack Power and lastly Agility.

Stamina is important for every class. Now granted, it is more important for certain classes to stack it greedily...the melee classes in particular...but in regards to a rogue (I run one myself), Stamina is my second priority. For me, it goes Agility, Stamina, then Strength for my rogue.
IMO, Agility is much more useful for a rogue than strength. You'll notice that the high-end leathers all feature generous boosts to attack power.
