ValuSoft Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna

Post by ariannapaliiti »

Hiya all.

I have been looking around the Internet everywhere for the answer and I can't find it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone has bought this $9.99 (US) game and knows if it comes with the original DS like it did originally or if I would have to buy that separately as well (which would be a rip-off since the first release of DSLOA ended up around $15 and the new release of the original DS is $9.99 also). I really wish they wouldn't have stopped making the original DSLOA release. Thank you very much in advance for any replies.

I am not quite sure what you mean, but DS:LOA always came bundled with the original Dungeon Siege executable. When you install and run the game, it places two shortcuts on your desktop, one to play "original" DS and the other to play the expansion pack Legends of Aranna.

Hiya! Thank you for replying!

I know that it always came with the original before but the original box for DS:LOA said specifically that it contained the original DS. See this Amazon link for the box art..

But this new DS:LOA release (the only one available now) does not have that little box saying that it contains the original DS as well. Amazon also lists it with the original saying to "Buy them together." I know sometimes they put things on there that if you buy one you wouldn't have to buy the other, but it's just fueling my suspicions. Here's the Amazon link for the new one..

I hope I helped you understand what I was saying.. Thanks again!

Hello again, and a belated welcome to the forum. :)

Hmm ok. I think the content on the Legends of Aranna CDs would have to have been altered to remove the original DS executable, so I am thinking that they probably just repackaged it in a jewel case instead of the carton with manual it originally came in. I would tend to think that they would not have altered the original CDs. But I think the best way to know for sure is if you are interested in purchasing the game from this Valuesoft company, you could contact either Amazon's customer service or Valuesoft's. Amazon has pretty good customer service, actually.

I have been thinking of purchasing a new copy myself, as I am a bit afraid of "wearing" out my old one. I play and mod the game alot, so it gets a lot of use.

Hehe thank you!

Well I thought the original release of DS:LOA had a separate disk for the original DS. I can't remember. My copy was borrowed by a friend of my ex-fiance and I haven't seen it since so I'm resorting to buying another copy since I'm really itchin' to play it again. Thanks for your input again, I really appreciate it!

:)

Actually, unless you went through and scanned each disk to determine which one had the original executable, I think it would be hard to tell. None of them are labelled in any way other than disk one, disk two and disk three. So in essence the original DS is included with the expansion installation as a whole...not as a seperate option. I own two copies of the game for two seperate computers...finally got my boyfriend to play multiplayer.

In fact, if you have original DS installed, when you install the expansion it overwrites your original installation. But still, I think the best way would be to call or email Amazon (or whomever you are going to buy the game from) and just ask them straight out.

And don't forget you can install mods! :D
