Stackable Benefits?

Post by Ferrick »

I was wondering if the benefits of amulets, shields, boots, etc. are stackable or does the higher (more powerful) eliminate the lesser? For instance...

Example #1 - I have shield that provides half-thaw ( I assume this means the duration of a freeze spell cast upon your PC is halved in duration; correct?). I also have an amulet that provides half-thaw. Together would they stack giving a much better benefit or does only one of these items work?

Example #2 - I have two small charms that provide 1-2 points of feeeze damage each. Will they work together (stack) or will only one work providing 1-2 cancelling the other one out?

Thanks.

Everything in diablo 2 stacks, everything does.

A shield that gives a +5% fire resistance and an amulet that gives a +10% fire resistance results in a 15% fire resistance. Same with any and every other magical property.

Although it might be worth adding that they stack in different and sometimes quite complex ways.

Another thing to note is having two reduced freeze duration items works rather unusually.

If a freeze length is 8 seconds:
1 item with reduced freeze will reduce it to 4 seconds
2 items with reduced freeze will halve what's left making 2 seconds
3 again divides what's left into 1 second.

Unfortunately two halves don't make a whole in diablo.
