Any decent recipies?

Post by JessicaElytis »

Okay, for all you who remember (or still play) Diablo 2; remember the Breath of the Dieing rune set? I know there are other sets in D2 but BotD was one of my faves and very nice to stomp with.

Any Enchanting recipes of similar ilk in DS2? Anything that really shines out?

I played around with a few random things in Merc mode, but the stuff basically sucked compared to what I found so I gave it up for lent *snickers* Of course I realize that the reagents in Merc are weak (as to be expected) and I had no clue of what I was doing, so might just have been mixing junk when I could have made OMG!!!! type stuff.

Is this option of the game worth exploring, or no?

I can't tell from your post if you're asking if enchanting is worthwhile, or if you're looking for enchanting recipes (which are available in the Broken World expansion pack).

Assuming it's the former, enchanting is useful if you want to increase a particular stat or your magic find. Enchantable legendary items have a lot of space to them. You'll start seeing them towards the end of the campaign.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Generally item enchanting is a nice feature if you haven't found yet a good rare/unique/set item or if you need to fix a special weakness (eg. having no life steal or no magic find).
With recipes now the quality of the enchanted item will increase once more, however it's a litte lottery because the resulting bonuses may vary.

So if you only have a weak (rare) magical item then you really should try out a recipe promising the same type of item.
But if you aready have a good set or unique item then the probability is rather low that a 'cocked' item will beat it.

With some community help we put all recipes online (litte spoiler alert).
Well sadly the final items are still missing but you get at least good impression what is possible. There are also the approximate levels the recipes are intended for - it doesn't make much sense to use a level 40 recipe for a char that is aready level 75. ;)

Thankies ^.^

((And sorry about the meandering speech SWC. It was 12am here. That will teach me to post while asleep lmao))

Basically what I'm seeing is that the Enchanting may be nice at low-mid levels but fairly useless after that except for the few recipes that may complete an outfit, or compliment a set.

And thanks for that link, KG. Was nice to see what all is out there. Have a few of those, but missing most. I have decent MF but don't seem to have the luck of finding recipes.

There is some extra stuff for veteran and elite mode but priority clearly has mercenary mode.

Generally veteran/elite mode seems to be rather untuned, in particular the difficulty is paradoxically descending and so many quest rewards are simply coded for mercenary mode only - and this sadly affects some programmed recipes drops too making you find the same recipes as in the mode before. :( Besides of this the drop chance for recipes is even lower than for set items.

Considering both aspects it's quite improbable to find all recipes while playing even with hundreds of MF percents.
