Can't add characters from the inn (BW)
Help!!!!!!
I tried to add my mule pack from the inn and the darn mule wouldn't come out. I even tried my reserve characters and they wouldn't come out either. Is this a glitch? This is the first time I have tried to retrieve a character from the inn in BW and it won't let me!!!!
Any Ideas???

i imagine your problem is similar to those discussed in this topic - http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/dunge ... 78405.html
this happens alot when converting characters from DS2 over to BW.
so i quit converting my characters and started fresh characters.

Another (tricky) approach is to totally clean the inn party member storage before converting your party.Darkelven wrote:i imagine your problem is similar to those discussed in this topic - http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/dunge ... 78405.html

This is recommandable if you have a party around level 40 able to enter the BW map (soon) because there you will find all party members again to re-hire them (with full amount of possible skill points ).
There are different posts/guides how to do this with or without mods, my little summary of this converting-adventure i posted once here:
BW Gameplay Discussion | Siege the Day
Totally modded.
This sort of action is similar to what happened to me recently. I'm so discouraged now, lost bunches of items on chars I had stored, as well as my mule and lil dragon. It simply won't let me add them back into my party, or has deleted them from the list all together now.
I played for about a week or more in s/p mode to get the new classes that come w/BW; the chars were still there when I left off. Came back today, and POOF! All gone. It simply leaves a blank spot for any I added to complete some incomplete quests in DS2 when I try to re-add them into the party now, or they're non-existant, and the inn-keep states I cannot add a fifth party member till I go on to Veteran level, (I have only three party members when attempting to add) which it won't let me do either.
Oh ya, and... Question: How did y'all get more than one page on your donkey when I've been playing with just one all this time and running back n forth to the store to sell garbage for gold?
FYI: My chars range a bit in lvl's, EXAM: Deru-49 c-magic, 10 n-magic, 36 ranged, 7 melee, and then the newer mix which is done auto, and it doesn't say how many lvl's there. This is appx how my main char's mixed so I could use the basics of each class, specially the magics.
FYI: I converted party to play BW; added the dwarf then removed him when I couldn't complete the quest and find the missing mine; all was still good till I came back today...
Thanks all

No clue on the bugs, but for selling the garbage for gold, pick up a transmute spell and just turn it into gold out in the wilds. It might be less than you can get selling, but I find the lower return worth not having the bother of going back and forth to the store. Even with the teleport spell:laugh:

I do the transmute thing a lot for excess potions, low-lvl rings, ammys, and many of the simpler items I know won't be of a great monetary loss v/s going to the shop. But often times I find items with attributes for lower lvl chars and the loss would be too great to use the spell, or I wish to hang onto the items (since you only get one page in your chest as well) for a possible later add of a member who needs to be accommodated for a mix of classes.
So, I'm bippin off to the store, or shuffling through my chest with the use of the transporter spell. Seems I spend more time in the shops and at my chest trying to make some item with the qualities needed to adjust a char's protection, or upgrading what they have access to since they've lvl'd, etc.
I was just wondering how y'all got more than one page on your donkey's inventory (?). Is there a tweek for this? If I recall from when I played DS1, I've never had more than one page on any of my creatures, ergo why I usually had more than one pack animal traveling in the group taking up a much needed spot that another party member could be using.
As for the other bugs, I did read somewhere yesterday that when you convert, that action does cause the bug of losing past members in the Inn file; so I won't be converting anymore.
Thanks Jessy ~

About the transmute spell, as you probably (don't) know the resulting gold amount will not depends on the item only, it also depends on your nature magic level.Tahrae wrote: ...

So if Taar joined your party then she is often the best 'Transmutator' - expect you are full-time nautre mage yourself.
First, i guess you have seen that in DS2 a donkey/packmule will get 3 invetory pages!?Tahrae wrote: I was just wondering how y'all got more than one page on your donkey's inventory (?). You only must feed him with items until 3 feeding bars are full.
If 3 pages still are not enough then you can use mods (in singleplayer).
Actually there are mods increasing the number of pages - but take care using them, some of them re-introduce older DS2 bugs concerning pet bonuses maybe weakening them.
There are also the quite famous Zhixalom's inventory mods featuring an inventory enlargment for chars, pets and tresor.
However you better should not combine both of these mods types together. Some people already felt 'inspired' to store more than 255 items per packmule - but exeeding that limit will cause a random item loss!
Players with more selective item-pick-up attitude will maybe prefer just a big party stash excessively using all available screen surface allowing to overview all/most collected loot at once.
Also that type of mod suffer the 255 item limit, luckily some of them are advanced enough to count the items and will inform you if you should take some items out again.
Ah well sorry, all this seems to be off-topic.
But actually these hints also may help preparing a party for convertion into v2.3/BW because one of the problems is the question how to take your item collection with you without having chars/pets in the inn.
Totally modded.
Ahhhh, nope. I tried to load more and it simply won't let me; but I've not tried to load in BW, only when I played DSII. And, ya, 3 pages would be quite enough, it would be enough if they offered it in the chest alone. Their reasoning behind not giving at least 3 pages for storage in a chest is beyond me anyway. I build and run a module for NWN-Gamespy; much of what DS has to (not) offer is the reason I walk away from the game once completing the end.KillerGremal wrote:About the transmute spell, as you probably (don't) know the resulting gold amount will not depends on the item only, it also depends on your nature magic level.....

However, DS2/BW seemed to capture me a bit more with some of it's added features.
Again, ya, I won't be d/l'g any mod's for this game given that there are already too many fixes to be addressed for now; also, when there is too much storage given per player, it will cause excessive lag, and that's bad enough. There are also the quite famous Zhixalom's inventory mods featuring an inventory enlargment for chars, pets and tresor.

I sure hope they fix a few other glitches, ie: items hanging in mid-air.. hehe.. someone forgot the shelf/table, etc. There are excessive placeables in this game, some completely unnecessary; kinda an overkill to dress up the environment.Ah well sorry, all this seems to be off-topic.

Rather off-topic ...(thus just some words ).
- It doesn't seem that GPG will produce any further patch.
The exact reasons for the inn storage bug(s) is/are uncertain or probably hard to evaluate, also all game stopping bugs have been fixed already for v2.3/BW.
- In DS2 mods are rather intended for singleplayer or LAN - rather impossible to use them online.
- Items-hanging-in-the-air bug: Play a bit with the option slider for game details or 'just' set it on the maximum.
The matter is caused because the table has a lower display-priority than the sword or book upon the table.

WHEEEL... I'm back from attempting to play for a bit after visiting here for a response to my questions; and to my disappointment, it did it again Erased everthing I've been working on for the past 3 to 4 days n nights!!! EXCEPT, of course, the people in the Inn, whom it will not allow me to access, send away, delete, etc.KillerGremal wrote:Rather off-topic ...(thus just some words ).

And, no, its not fixed with v2.3 I have the Deluxe Ed. (@ $60 buckeroos a pop!) and nothing wants to work right from installation, attempting to boot the play-disk (if you can get the installation completed in a day or two) to saving your char's point n the game (Deluxe Ed. SUPposedly came w/updated version.)
Actually, I can't believe they didn't come out w/a patch as soon as they completed the beta testing for this HUGE, OBVIOUS, BUG. And not so much as a warning on a 'Readme' page included w/the disks
Anyone know of a way around this blooper? :mischief: Ehhhh, its dinner time, and I'm the cook.
Laters... thanks ne way, KG

I'm sorry for your troubles, but don't expect that the game runs well if your savegame is buggy (of course this also can be considered as game stoping bug ).
It's very probable that symptioms like 'i have lost items or solved quests' sadly can be traced back on broken savegames too - still able to load but incapable to be saved correctly.
There is only one promising way to rescure such invalid savegames in v2.3/BW: Save your party once without any chars/pets in the inn (and ensure that it really will be saved).
However completely abandoning the inn storage temporarly is quite tricky, that's why so many players switching form older versions to v2.3 were looking for mods for more inventory space, kicking chars form the inn and furhter party members already in mercenary mode.

Game Stopping Bug? Broken saved games? How would a saved game become broken? Also, I cannot save the game without chars/pets in the Inn due to what I stated above, it won't let me "Release" or use them. What do I do, delete this group from my file, since one cannot get into the data further to remove any one creature or char that is breaking the ability to save a game?KillerGremal wrote:I'm sorry for your troubles, but don't expect that the game runs well if your savegame is buggy (of course this also can be considered as game stoping bug ).

Also, I used to use the CTRL/S and sometimes the game save option to save, and now it won't let me use CTRL/S. Is that some issue with using the BW CD v/s the DS2 CD that comes in the Deluxe packet? And.... I'm now playing with just the BW CD to, again, complete all side quests, (it states I cannot go on to 'Veteran' level till I finish DS2) will there be a problem using this CD v/s going back to the DS2 CD to finish those quests (I've beat Valdis, so got no clue why it won't let me go to 'Veteran'?)
ARRRRGGG! what a nightmare.

Well next time i will write 'third-last chance' instead of 'promising'.
The second-last chance is using mods, at least there is a slightly higher chance to get rid of chars because the game can delete them directly without displaying them again (as if you would send a pet back to wildernes).
The really last chance is manipulating the your savegame as described here. Quite tricky and with a notable chance to fail if you aren't used to do such things.
But if all will fail then you are cursed.
Of corse you can go on playing with such a savegame, but don't be surprised if it even will cause more problems.
So if you really want to import your old party into v2.3/BW then better prepare it in the original game version, hopefully the inn is working there.
