Perhaps you could manually copy your files over but I would consider it extremely unlikely for this to work. Real games get updated, demo's usually don't. It might even work at first, but you'll run into problems a few chapters later. I wouldn't do try it if I were you

BTW i got Broken World with it, and i've been hearing about a great deal of bugs between DSII and BW...
I ~think~ the problems mainly occur if you only load DS2 and play a character, THEN install BW and try to convert the saved games.
IF I understand the bug-talk correctly; playing through with the full install of both DS2 and BW expansion from the very beginning prevents ~most~ bugs.
Anyone have a complete list of bugs and workarounds? If not, maybe we should think about collecting data on that and posting at one place for referencing.

I'd say go ahead and get the demo. You can learn how everything works, experiment with different races, classes etc. You may end up starting a new character anyhow after you mess the first one (several) up.
As for bugs... Install DS2 then BW then start the game with the BW shortcut only (and always) then make your character. BW is not seperate from the original, it is now act4 of the original game. When you start with the BW shortcut you'll be playing DS2 version 2.3 (In Broken World you'll start on the original DS2 map in mercenary. after beating that then you move on to BW map merc. then back to DS2 map vet. etc.). Otherwise you may get the inn bugs that others got before BW. Also before BW, I played version 2.2 to lvl 65 then my character was corrupt and could no longer join multiplayer games. Then the same for two more characters over lvl 50. Corrupt everytime. I got BW and converted my last corrupt character (lvl 51) and it has worked fine (except I lost my companions *shrug*); it's up to lvl 84 now. I've made 4 more other high lvl characters in BW since with no problems. Just a warning. Maybe not as important if you're going to play single player only though.
