Hello! I've just gotten to Duriel in act II with my Amazon, with whom I'm focusing on Bow skills. I'm level 24, and my first point in that has gone into immolation, and I have about 4 points in Ice arrow. I've kind of neglected my passives, so I can't put points into decoy yet (but that's looking like a good idea).
Immolation and Ice arrow are my primary attacks. I have a bow which does 3-18 points of damage raw, and about 10-40 when equipped. My ice arrow does 36-75. And my spread of attributes is 40 to all but dex, which is at 65.
So, any tips for defeating Duriel? It's proving to be very tricky! I feel I might be putting my eggs in the wrong baskets so to speak....
Thanks for any help!
Duriel Help for a bowazon
Hi Craig! Duriel in Normal is probably the hardest monster in the entire game, especially for a bowazon (and some other builts). Are you going to make a Frostmaiden, a bowazon that uses the cold tree, or a Magezon, a bowazon that uses both the fire and cold tree?
In any case, for Duriel you must rely on your merc, so make sure you have one and give him the best armour and weapon you can find. Stack up with lots of potions for both yourself and him. Good luck!

I second C Elegans on two points:
1. Duriel in normal is indeed the hardest bosses especially since the room is so freaking small.
2. Get a mercenary, give him/her the best weapon and armor you can afford, and let Duriel concentrate on your merc as you deliever damage from across the room. Raise as needed.
* The absolute best thing I did was that as soon as I entered the room I triggered a town portal, delivered damage, and then got out before I was killed. If your merc survived he/she will follow. (If not, go and raise from the dead) Go get healed and return. Make sure you have a town portal in your inventory before returning and make sure you have plenty of heal potions.

Sounds cheap to me... what's the point of playing a character if you can't beat Duriel?IcthyDemon wrote:Or you can do what I do, login a higher level with a diff cd key, off him with the higher lvl and then just run the zon to tyrael. The quest credit is talking to tyrael and opening the portal, not actually killing duriel.
Save yourself the effort and just use a character editor to create a level 99 character.
It sounds like you're playing on-line. You don't have the editors playing single player, but I figured you can get some-one to rush you easy enough.
This should be a topic on how to defeat Duriel by yourself. I must admit, I upped the players function to /players 4, and did a few canyon of the Magi runs in order to level up to level enough that my merc could survive enough hits, enough mana to cast decoy alot, and some points in fire arrow.

Rushing is for people who have forgotten how to play the game.
Theres nothing wrong with pulling one of your higher lvls in for a boss kill, since its your own character that you've already leveled up.
I typically make one decent leveled character to aid my lower level characters in boss fights.
I'm one of the most ethical gamers and I have an extremely high moral compass when it comes to activities that i deem appropriate and inappropriate. Since I level all my characters without rushes, without trading and without hacking, I don't see anything wrong with bringing a higher lvl in to help once in awhile.

In terms of "cheating" and ethics I don't see any difference between rushing, twinking or bringing in a higher lvl char to do a boss kill.IcthyDemon wrote:Rushing is for people who have forgotten how to play the game.

On Bnet, I do however make a big difference between the above mentioned methods and hacks and dupes, which as everybody knows, is illegal.
the_bogan] Would you have any suggestions for single player?[/quote wrote:
Using a higher lvl char for boss kills simply means your built is not viable, you are too low lvl or you are just lazy. In single player, I would think there is nothing else to do than levelling. I have never played any build that couldn't beat Duriel although some builds are of course more difficult than others, especially bowazons and sorcs.
