Finished the game with a party heavy into magic use. Lothar about level 65 and the Archer the same.
I've started a new game at the next difficulty level and I'm bored to dickens.
Nothing new except a few enhanchments. And monsters a little tougher.
Other than that...all is exactly the same as the first time.
So, what's the point of plowing through again. And, what about the third level. What's the fun in playing a game three times with nothing much changing?
Am I missing something.
What's The Point??
Hopefully an Answer
Well -
For the most part the extra difficulties add to the reply value of the game. Its more or less an option for people to play through again and collect 'better' gear or make more powerful characters. If it gets boring, try DS2: Broken World expansion. Aside from that if they didn't have extra difficulties the game would just end at where you are.
For those who played Diablo II the extra stuff is fun for online play. Though not to many people are playing this online, I'm afraid to say
Hope I could help!!

I enjoy the higher difficulties for the better loot and tough mobs. I'm just a little confused at how you finished the first difficulty at level 65. Were you playing original DS2 or DS2 and Broken World expansion? I have never played BW and usually I finish the Mercenary difficulty at around ~42. I have a party, lvl 49, on act 2 veteran difficulty. Also a lvl 73 party, act 2 elite difficulty. So 65 fits inbetween there somewhere
If you are overleveled for the point in the game that you are at, that could make it very boring. I do have to admit however, that veteran is not much of a step up from mercenary. Elite however is quite interesting. Some very nice gear and some very hard enemies.
Only reason to play past the first is better gear and hopefully a more challenging game; much like Diablo 2 in terms of the difficulty levels. Though if you have a "super party" maybe it wouldn't be that fun. I don't know though. I have never found a true "super party" to fit my tastes anyway.
I came close with 5 death mages and 1 nature mage :mischief:
Hope there is some useful info here Good Luck!!

As mobs respawn, you ~can~ go back through areas and level up a bit more than is done if you just plow straight through the game. A bit hard as the XP gains lower exponentially as you gain in levels. (ie, the mobs with green names don't give you sh** for XP:laughstone_phil wrote:I'm just a little confused at how you finished the first difficulty at level 65. However, the POINT to playing beyond beating the game in Merc mode is to advance your character and gain better gear. Though more likely, it's as Zaramoth pointed out; It's more fun in MultiPlayer online.
Think of SinglePlayer DS2 after completing the storyline once in one of these ways:
1) A great way to relieve stress! (Killing things tends to do that )
2) A challenge to see how strong a party you can build. Both in characters, or items.
3) A challenge to see if you can complete the storyline with different party builds. Solo, mage only, etc.
4) Practice for MP Online play.

You finished merc at lvl65? Anyways the good point is that it is not exaclty the same. The bad however is that it is usually easier. And with lvl65.. well..Taarna wrote:Finished the game with a party heavy into magic use. Lothar about level 65 and the Archer the same.
