Some questions since its a new game to me

Post by Drunkside »

Well these are propably stupid ones, but here goes:
1 How does the "to hit"-thingy work? I know its offensive vs defensive(Damn im smart.... ;) ) but how is it worked out?
2 How many acts are there? Im in the beginning of act 2 now.
3 how good will a "decent" character be on the maximum level(Def, Off, Damage etc...)
4 How can i get arcane formulae?
5 Will i be able to use my single player char in multiplayer?(It sucks if not)
6 The game seems pretty balanced, but are there masterines that pwn everything else?(Im a harbinger since speed and slowing foes down seemed like a nice combo. The storm seems to be really strong too, but dunno of the others.)

And a little thing in the back: I love this game, it is just addicting. Usually i prefer more in dephth games but its pretty fun to sometimes just butcher masses of things without the moral thinking:devil:. Funny thing is, that i HATE Diablo, and this game is so alike.... Its a pure diablo clone(Now you ask how i know what is diablo like if i hate it. Well, a friend of mine, YES I HAVE FRIENDS, plays it sometimes), just plain better with more classes, nicer views and a fun physics motor(i love kicking things down from mountains :D ).

PLS ANSWER QUICKLY!!! AND TY IN ADVANCE!!!

I'll see if I can help you out here:

Offensive ability gives you your chance to hit and to do a critical hit. This is effected by adding points into your Dexterity ability or from various items that add amounts to your Offensive ability score.

Defensive works on the same principle but the higher the score the better your chances not to get hit and not to take a critical hit. Adding to Dexterity adds to this score also.

There are 4 (5 inc. Olymplus as an act) acts.

"Decent" is a hard term to elaborate on in regards to characters considering there are lots of different characters builds out there that are "decent".

...however lets say once you hit Legendary difficulty you should be doing at least mid thousands of damage per second if you were say a melee character.

Arcane Formulae are dropped by monsters or found in chests/tombs/bone piles etc...

Definately can use your single player character in multiplayer - this is one of the great things about TQ

All masteries are pretty balanced really. Everyone has an opinion as to what the best one is but if you truly had a good look at each mastery on its own they are all pretty good really. Which is another great thing about TQ....there are so many combinations of masteries that you can build it makes the lastability and replayability of the game a lot greater than that of some of its competition...e.g. Diablo2...

So I hope I covered most things.

Keep having fun building your Harbinger. Haven't tried one of those character builds yet so keep us posted how you get on with it.

;)
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

yeh ty for all this. I actually found two of those formulas just after i had written that post :D .

But i actually knew how those off and def come together, i just would like to know like how big are my chances to dodge an attack of say... 300 off if i have 400 def?

My harbinger is actually really good(by good i mean that i kill really nicely on normal difficulty), my max hit is already 648 and dps fully buffed is some 169 or so, level 19 now :) Only weakness is that i have low hp, just a little over 1000. So in boss fights i usually consume huge amounts of potions

And yeah i have checked most of the masteries, but only tried this one. My thoughts of the storm being good are based on the fact that i lost 4 times to the prince of storms :p

I can guarentee you that if you chose two masteries that start off pretty damn powerful, you'll end up weaker than snot towards mid-epic to all of Legendary.
