D3 announcement this year?

Post by DaveO »

I read on the D2.Net site about Blizzard buying domains. I'm thinking that if they do announce the game, it won't be released until 2009-2010. Any takers?

P.S. - Due to the post date of April 2nd, it's always possible that D2.Net got taken in by an April fool's joke.

What kind of domains? It's more likely that whatever Blizzard was buying, it was buying for Star Craft 2.

Actually, I would rather wait even to 2010 or longer to get a good game than get crappy game sooner, which need to be payched several times before being playable.

I personally think that the importance and profile of the D2 game died when the creators moved and created Flagship...hence why I am not "holding my breath" so to speak for D3 to come out in a hurry if at all.....too much money to be made in the precious WoW for there to be any thoughts about a D3....and besides they (Blizzard) will be spending at least the next 3 years getting Starcraft 2 up and running and with any expansions they decide to release also...

:(
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Probably webspace. A domain isn't diablo3.com, a domain would be more or less blizzard.com/domain, basically a section of the pie that has no filling yet.

And yes, I just compared the internet to pie.

So blizzard buying domain space and saying they want to hire people with similar qualifications to the ones who worked on Diablo 2, that's still speculation in making diablo 3.

I actually predict with all the news items, announcements, and other stuff they've done on their site with games and what not, I give them about a 60% probability to make the game. Wild speculation refined as much as possible, and even as low as it is, 60% are some good odds.

The fact that they are working on Starcraft 2 should prove that just because they can make a lot of money from WoW, doesn't mean that they won't work on other projects.

I think, given enough time, their only options will be D3 or WoW2.

But still, making tonnes of money from WoW and taking so long to even announce D3 doesn't bode well with me. With the amount of money Blizzard has, they could probably persuade the old Diablo devs at Flagship to rejoin them.

Blizzard release dates

Blizzard has always had 3 or 4 delays in their releasing of all their games because they try to fix every little problem before they release so they don't have to release any patches, and even then they still end up releaing like 5 of them in the first 2 months.

Not really. They released Diablo 1, 2, lord of destruction, warcraft 1, 2, starcraft, and broodwar as is, and then went for patches.

Besides, patches aren't a bad thing. If they have to come out with patches because they see a lot of room for improvement or see places that need fixing and they DON'T charge, I'm all for the wait.

I'm not saying payches are bad, I'm saying that Blizzard has been hessitant in the past to release patches for unknown reasons.

Really? Because I've never seen that out of them at all. In fact, out of any respectable game company (Bioware, blizzard, obsidian, vivendi, atari, activision) I'd rely on blizzard the most as they've had by far the fewest patch delays out of all those companies I listed.

Mammon would be the best candidate. Mammon is the devils son, and Diablo = the Devil. Mammon is also the kind of person who bides his time until the right moment to strike, making the three brothers death the most opportune time of all.
