Did you try looking on all four sides of the fountain? I've never heard of anybody having a problem with this part of the game before, so hopefully you're just overlooking something.

I think it's one of the corners that is supposed to start glowing, and I don't see it in your screenshot. Are you sure you picked up the crystal? Does your quest log say you should be able to open up the fountain? I don't really have any good ideas about what the problem might be.

Why don't you tell us exhactly what you did and in the right order so that we may understand the problem is.

Start again if you have to, because in the picture you showed there is something missing at the corner to where the crystal must be put. It could be a glitch. However I have always had to put the crystal in the corner that the golden guy with the shield (Lothar if I'm not mistaken) is looking at.
  :p ;) :D :o :( :)

From the look in the pic, I see what you're saying. the corner statue (the thing that holds the crystal) is completely missing. Just a flat pedestal left. From the pic, I'd say the game didn't load the interactive pedestal correctly.

I'd caulk this up to a graphics glitch. If you've reloaded the game (shut it down completely and rebooted your computer) and the statue is still missing after that, try looking up your graphics card from the maker and seeing if there is a new driver out for it. I've seen a glitch like that in other games where the GPU driver was the culprit. Also, check to ensure you didn't update drivers and have two running at once. Driver conflicts can also cause this issue.

I'd also try mousing over the area where the statue should be. Even though it isn't visible, the game may still recognize that it's there. Though the interactive point may be ~extremely~ small due to the lost image.

EDIT: I'm thinking a "top down" look may work best on this. With the statue not loading, the cursor may be "looking" past where the interactive point is. By looking straight down on the flat pedestal, you may be able to click the trigger point.

Q: Have you played this install of the game past this point before?

If not, this may also be a corrupted install. Search for ways to save your game in another folder, and a re-install may also help. I know this can be done, but I'm not sure what files to move to where. I do believe this has been discussed on this forum elsewhere though.

Best of luck.
