Templar: Trance of Wrath or Convalesence?

Post by GawainBS »

Like the title said, which would you use?
I used ToC for my Harbinger, because without a shield, she was quite vunerable.

Thanks in advance!

U let out of the picture Empathy, wich is best, imo... Anyways, from these two I'd prefer Convalescence, if nothing else, I'm a Templar and it would be an addtion to his surviving skills. A bit off topic, but so 2 mention, my build, doesn't have neither, and I'm not planning on putting points into, either. Empathy rocks... :)

I find the life leech too small and I don't like to rely on something that requires me to be hit in the first place.

ToW depends on what types of damage you do. Endgame the electrical burn is nice but not a killer and its the debuff to resists that counts. If you are wielding a club and doing physical damage you will not need ToW much because not many opponents possess physical resistance. If doing a lot of piercing damage it becomes better. In that vein I would not use ToW with a templar because they are less known for pierce. Possibly only if I wanted attack damage converted to health (and affect undead and constructs) or maybe a thorny maul is enough pierce to want the debuff?
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

I have no idea what weapons I'm going to be wielding. Thorny Maul sounds a looooong way off. ToC is probably a better bet then. I guess ToW meshes better with a Haruspex then?

Thanks for the advice!

The electrical burn damage will be very good in normal (you mention thorny long way off). Go ahead and use that (ToW) in normal but I would select another trance later on with the mystic. ToW is good for a earth-dream early on you can own everything with damage auras. ToW is also good later on for a dreamkiller since they do poison/bleed/pierce (including traps). Not that I have played a dreamkiller yet but I was considering. I think Haruspex could use any trance in that retributive damage/life leach and health + mana recharge/ damage absorption are never bad. There is no dream trance that is really terrible and dream skills in general are so good that early you can either spend heavily on a trance or pop just 1 pt in 1 and either way its a good move.

Although I do agree with your point here, you are inevitably going to get hit being a melee character so I think Trance of Empathy is your best bet still, if nothing else the 60% dmg reflect is always your friend.

I run a lvl 60 Ritualist which is night and day I know, but have found myself sticking to ToC. With this my 5 pets and myself are always up with the exception of Typhon & Hades and very few of the special monsters. I put 1 point into ToW only for that skelly dude in the "turtle area" which has super resists and besides that it is rarely ever on.

I am just thinking with your build (whereas you will be getting hit often) that ToE is probably your best bet.

Just my 2 cents.

I see what you mean, but with Defense, and as a melee character, I would also try to take as less damage as possible. (Resist, Armour, Absorb, etc.)
I do think that it works greats with lots of pets, like you described.
