Jade Empire SE Pc version Bug!

Hi. I recently began playing the pc version of jade empire. Everything was fine at first but ever since I left the school to find dawn star, my weapon selection is all screwed up. Basically what happens is when a battle ensues and one of your weapons come up it selects it and then the weapon selection screen pops up again, freezing the game. Then when you pick your weapon the screen disappears for a split second and then reappears freezing the game again. This keeps on going no matter how many times you pick the weapon. Has anyone else had this problem or knows how to fix it???
