I kind of played out D2 for awhile and thus having purchased the "Battle Chest" some time ago am just now starting the expansion and of course because I'm an idiot I have a few questions.
1. I started LoD and converted my original character but I can only seem to play the original campaign with him. When I click "single player" then on the character it simply starts me out in the rogue camp. Is this normal?
2, While I greatly appreciate the expanded stash (even though it seems to also have shrunk my personal inventory) I lost my Cube and all that was in it when I switched. Do I not need it any longer? Is there any way to retrieve what I lost? I had all my set items inside.

1.) The expansion adds a fifth act, which a character can access only after completing act four, assuming that character has been converted to "expansion" through a little check tab at the selection screen.
2.) The inventory does not shrink in any way. You do not need the cube after act three, although it is a very useful item to have. Try redoing the quest and see if you can get it again.

Just to add:
2- Halls of the Dead Level 2 always has a Horadric cube in the chest IF you don't have one in your inventory, no matter how many times you've completed the quest.

I've completed the game in normal and was 1/2 way thru nightmare before I lost interest. Do I need to complete it again?
I went thru the quest again and got the cube. It contained some of my lost articles but because its capacity was conseiderably smaller it only had 1 tem and a few gems. Is there no way to retrieve all of my lost items? I wonder if I toss the cube and go get it again if I will get more stuff back?

Weird, I don't recall any of that happening to me, though I did that conversion thing only once and it was way back.
I don't know what will happen to that Nightmare game you had, but I assume you won't be able to play the LoD Nightmare because you couldn't have completed it on the Normal difficulty prior to that.
To go to Act V, visit the town in Act IV (I couldn't remember it's name now if you threatened to kill me ) and talk to Tyrael, he'll open a portal for you.
About the Horadric cube, I'd say there isn't really a fat chance of that happening. You can try of course, but I would remove the items that are inside first .

I'm sure your right about them being lost forever. Just for grins & giggles I went back and got the cube again but it was empty this time. Oh well. Thanks for all the help though.
