Help with assigning dexterity points on an Hdin
Hello again, I have an Hdin who is currently lvl 76 and has around 50 stat points left to spend and i'm going for max block. How much dexterity should i have to achieve max blockage (once i get a HoZ)? Any help on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left!
I never play paladin, so I don't know exactly how Holy Shield works, but my guess would be that your chance to block is calculated like this:
Blocking = (Shields Block value + Holy Shield Block Value) * (Dexterity - 15) / (Character Level * 2)
For example, if you are level 76, cast a lvl 5 Holy Shield(25%), carry a Herald Of Zakarum(82%) and want maximum block chance(75%) the dexterity required would be:
75 = (82+25) * (Dex - 15) / (76 * 2)
which is the same as:
75 * (76 * 2) / (82 + 25) + 15 = Dex = 132
There are a quite high probability that I have made a calculation error so you should probably check the numbers before spending stat points. Unless someone knows how Holy Shield works I also suggest you post your current values including Holy Shield and we can check if the calculations seem correct.

I'm pretty sure that Holy Shield adds a flat chance to block, which is one of the reasons it's so good.

You only need enough Dexterity for max block. That's it.
The rest should go into vitality and nothing else.

If that is the case I believe the required dexterity in my example would be 108 instead of 132.GawainBS wrote:I'm pretty sure that Holy Shield adds a flat chance to block, which is one of the reasons it's so good.

Yes, that is correct. I think I have around 125 on my Hdin currently. I wouldn't go over that ammount. You can get away without spending as much if already have HoZ on you though.
