Lost Resistances
I just finished playing the normal level of TQ and started the Epic section. I noticed that my resistances all of a sudden were -40 for each. Is this normal and if so how the heck can you get then back into the 40+ zone.

Yeah, it's normal, it's even more of a penalty in Legendary.
But epic and legendary equipment compensate for this, you'll get back up to speed soon enough.
