Not Lucasarts, PLEASE

Post by playa8624 »

OK, as many people know it will likely be Lucas Arts who make K3. BUT I guarantee you if they make it, it will be abysmal, boring, and uncompleted. Why? Look at their games so far:

Battlefront 2: Battlefront 1 was NOT made by lucasarts! Another company made it, Lucasarts wanted to cash of the Battlefront title, so they made BF2. Im not saying BF2 was bad, but it could very well have been a patch for BF1. Space battles, and a couple new levels was all they had to offer.

Force Unleashed: 8 HOUR STORYLINE? WITH 2 YEARS OF HYPE THEY GIVE US 8 HOURS OF PLAY???? Force Unleashed was over hyped, and Lucasarts did nothing to stop that. They relied on Euphoria, graphics, and DMM to give them a ride to the top. But GTA 4 came out, and Rockstar did a MUCH better job with their Euphoria engine. As usual, LA was topped. The DMM system was waaaaaaaay unrealistic. The stuff splintered, but as a whole everything looked worse than if it was pre-rendered. And the game was filled with glitches. They tried to do more than they could, and I know they'll do it with K3.

KOTOR 2: Contrary to popular believe, KOTOR 1 was NOT made by LucasArts. The makers of K1 were Obsidian and Bioware. They did a great job too, but of course LucasArts consider themselves the rightful owners to EVERY StarWars title. They take the good ideas of other companies, and then claim rights to them. And we all know what a mess K2 turned out to be. Tons of Glitches, Unchanged graphics, and a story that could have been good but was never properly told. And nobody needs to relive the ending we got from K2 either. Now they want K3 to be a MMORPG?? Again, they try to do more than they can and they will end up failing, all of their previous attempts say so.

You forgot Republic Commando, another game made in-house. Pretty good game and one of the Star Wars titles I liked.
Battlefront 2: Battlefront 1 was NOT made by lucasarts! Another company made it,
If I remember correctly, it was Pandemic Studios who made them.

Given the massive layoffs recently, I doubt Lucasarts is going to make anything in-house in the near future, so it is unlikely they are making a KOTOR 3 or any other game for that matter.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

K1 was made by Bioware, K2 by Obsidian. Both were made under the control of LucasArts. Not sure what the exact legal term is, but still.
LucasArts consider themselves the rightful owners to every Star Wars title because they ARE the rightful owners - hence Star Wars "TM". So nobody can make a Star Wars game without LA - they own the title.
Hope that clears up any confusion.

Small point - K2 was not such a mess, in many ways it had better features than K1 (not that I'm starting the debate here). But LA made Obsidian rush the end, so bits got missed out.

On aother point, "Outlaws" is still one of my favourite games, alongside Dark Forces II - I'm pretty sure they were both in-house LA?
