Paladins FTW

Post by Rein »

Hello all my fellow Paladins! I wanted to discuss Paladins. Thats pretty much it. I'm in a little controversy with the new talent "Judgement of the Wise". It has a replenish effect that increases the mana regeneration of party or raid members but in the tool tip it doesn't mention how long the replenish effect lasts. Can anyone answer me?

I've always had fun playing a pally. I think its because utilizeing the seals and judgements in a proficient matter provides somewhat of a challenge. Once you understand how one effects the other and when to use each ability, you do better overall. I love the new patch though. I can actually kill someone without useing up all my mana. People complain and wine about getting killed by a Paladin now. Before Paladins use thier bubble almost every fight (PVP). Now I can save it for emergencies like it was meant for.

I've always liked hybrids. I know in PvP most people go for full ret, but I tend to think getting talents in protection and in retrubution will provide better overall survivability and it might even confuse your enemies cause they expect fighting every Paladin to be the same. Surprise!

I have my talent tree fully thought out up to the last point. All of the talents in prot and in ret cannot be spared. Now my only 2 choices that I am willing to agree with are getting all three ranks of Judgement of the WiseOR sacrificing the last rank of Judgment of the Wise dropping it to a 66% chance to proc in order to gain Blessing of Sactuary. What should I do? I was thinking that a 66% chance is still good and if I had Blessing of SactuaryI might be able to block, parry or dodge enough to make up any mana loss from Judgment of the Wise not proccing. On top of that other classes can benefit from Blessing of Sactuary. Give me your thoughts. Please.

Honestly...without the increased defense stats (including shield use) that go along with the gear and focus of a tank, gaining Blessing of Sanctuary for a non-tanking paladin is a waste of talent points. In my opinion, the only thing in the Protection tree worth your precious talent points is Divine Strength. Even with the "nerf" to Judgements of the Wise, I found that it works reasonably well. You not only gain an immediate mana boost from that talent, but you benefit from the mana replenishment effect as well. I forget how long that lasts...at least 6 seconds if my memory serves...but it helps. I tested the Ret spec on my paladin for a few days very recently (wearing Ret gear I might add) and found that the mana back and replenishment was adequate.

In a group/raid setting, Blessing of Sanctuary isn't effective on any character that is not a tank and not constantly subject to attack from melee or ranged enemies. Why? Because, the mana/rage/runic power generation of that blessing only occurs when the recipient dodges, parries, or blocks. A rogue who is hardly (if ever at all) attacked in a group/raid would be better served by Blessing of Might than Sanctuary. Blessing of Sanctuary only serves a Protection Paladin well...and serves other tanks in a raid. That is the only Paladin who should be spending points that deep in the Protection tree, in my opinion anyway.

Replenishment lasts 15 seconds.

Agree with the above.

If you want to mess around with retribution survivability you could try this sometime soon:

You'll need high crit and strength or this won't work and it's really more PVE oriented.
