I downloaded and installed TQVAULT, saved some items, went to continue play. Before when I'd go in I'd choose play TQ, now when I go in there, there is no character. I have to choose play customized, in which the character is there, when I choose single mode, I have no option to start the game and I don't want to get into any mulitiplayer games yet.
If anyone could give me any suggestion or set my clueless self straight, I'd appreciate it.

I'd try posting in the titanquest.net modifications and the editor forum. Create your own thread or post in the vault thread. Someone there is more likely to be experienced with titanquest mods.
I know I don't have to go to custom game to access my characters. Don't use the vault while your in the middle of a game. Use it when TQ is not launched or when it is at the main menu screen of TQ.
Also check if you installed vault correctly. I think there is an installer. I don't think it goes in custom maps folder. (which might of happened if its opening in custom games)
