Training companions?

Post by paralaje »

I can't seem to make my fifth companion to gain levels just after moving to veteran and increasing my party size. I know that you have to kill monsters in a +-5 level range to get any exp at all, but that's what I'm doing and still no exp gains. The main character's level is 40 and the companion is at level 30. I am killing lvl28-31 monsters and I don't see any exp gains.
What am I doing wrong?

Well, drat. I always thought that strategy would work. It might be that your only option is to put the companion in the inn, and then take him back out every level or two. I think you're about to the point (with a 10 level difference) where a companion will jump to roughly the main character's level.

@swcarter: It actually needs 20 levels difference to enjoy GPG's automatic level-boost.
But no offence, it's a quite unnatural threshold anyway, and i always wondered if this feature originally really was intended to work like this.

@paralaje: Temporarily better go on playing with 2 or 3 party members only or exchange some members for pets if you have (for rather strange reasons they may help a bit, and the disbanded members won't miss a lot).
But the levelling of a retarded member within a 5-/6-men-party will be quite hard the way the exp related things are natively implemented.
Totally modded.
