Predictions

Post by Salidin54 »

Guessing from all of the posts I've read so far during the development of D3 it seems like Blizzard is taking a lot of risks with their product that quite a few of us fans aren't too happy with. After looking over most of the new ideas going into D3 like a forced leveling system and the health orbs, I've begun to believe that D3 may end up being a flop if Blizzard doesn't get their act together. So I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm gonna say that in the end all of the old D2 fans with money left after Mr. Obama and all the non-American people out there who loved D2 are gonna be in anticipation of D3 and play D2 for 3 until the release of D3 when they will go and buy it, only to discover that all of our fears came true and it sucks. After that everyone who still has the desire to play a Diablo game will get back on D2 and it will flourish again. Just a guess.

I think you are dead wrong :) Fans always complains about the "good old times" being better for every change made, it's part of most people's psyche to resist changes initially but then gradually adapt.

No risk, no reward. I think they'll do fine for the Diablo 3 release. It's been long enough since the second one was released.

I actually like the fact that blizzard is willing to take risks, otherwise D3 may just end up as D2 in 3D.

Well part of me hopes that you guys are right, but another part of me hopes that Blizzard will realize that there are some parts of diablo that they already got right and don't need to change, ie. forced leveling.(I really don't much mind the health orbs, its just that I've heard a lot of people complaining about it)

I have enough trust in Blizzard that they know what they're doing. What's this forced leveling system, btw?

Why change something, that it is already superb and fun to play?
Just change the graphics and story, and if they feel like they need to add some new things while keeping the rest, then they can add as much as they want!

I'll just wait and c how things will turn out to be

Attribute points will be added automatically when you level up

Automaticly, like in Sacred (an increase of 10% in every attribute) and some free points to spend, or completely automatic? If so, I'll start sharing your cynism. ;)

Player wont have direct control over distribution of attribute points.
That means, if you are playing Barbarian and you level up, attribute points will be automatically raised.. however not all stats will be raised but only those that "fit" Barbarian character the most (that would be Strength, Health and maybe one more stat)
If you are playing Wizard, his/her points will again be automatically raised when he/she levels up, however this time it will go in Mana, Intelligence and maybe one more

Blizz said, to compensate for automatic distribution of ap, player will raise the stats, he/she wishes to raise, with equipment (apparently, mayor stat boost comes from equipment)

I don't know what, but Blizz did something with spell system... they changed it or something (im not thinking about runes that can be added to boost the spells).. i don't know did they keep the system where certain spells give bonuses to each other...

Runes are IN, Rune words are OUT... you wont be able to combine certain runes that make a rune word...

And, there is still a thing that raised an debate among fans and devs... the controversial artistic design

For other stuff, it remains to be seen

It's like that but without the "some free points to spend."

Not too thrilled about this news... I loved the quirky builds people managed to design in DII, like a melee sorceress and such.

Heh...I've been preaching this all over this forum.

Enchant, Static, Teleport and glacial spike were unbelievably awesome for a sorceress let alone a melee sorceress.

This is imo the main point. If blizzard manage to make a D3 with same diversity in builds as D2 then I couldn't care less if you can't choose where to place your stat points.

The forced stat allocation smells of yet another dumbification of PC games, to me.
But like I said earlier, I have faith in Blizzard. (Allthough I'm a bit more sceptical now.)

I'm a little disappointed to hear that rune words are out. One more thing I forgot to mention, a game that has a majority of its fan base on internet play should have a little more security. I got extremely PO'ed when my account just disappeared without a trace, and not just once, I even emailed them about it the first time and it still happened two more times. I never got a character past lvl 49. As long as that and/or forced leveling don't happen I will still definately buy the game in the end.

Lets try to stay on topic guys. This is a Diablo 3 predictions thread, it's not a thread about diablo 2 characters.

...and I'm back.

I heard recently that Blizzard was most likely going to use a forced leveling system.

For me, all changes they've made are all positive and mostly solving
problems from older games. There is nothing wrong with that I mean
games have to evolve after all.
