This is my first thread on this forum, and I have a bit of a problem...
I just got Titan Quest Gold yesterday and have installed it. But whenever I go to run it, I get the dreaded "Fatal Error" message. The message reads: "Couldn't initialize graphics engine." Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? My graphix card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 for the main and a PCI Express Slot(z). Does my computer have a non-compatible graphix card, or is there somehing else going wrong? I'm at my wit's end here! Any help GREATLY appreciated. Thanx in advance!

PS: Once I finally get my game to run, I'm considering using a Storm Char. with the intention of adding Spirit later. Would this be a good starting build or not?

Angry's Video Card testing list - Titan Quest Forums
According to this, it is incompatible. Even though it has power enough to run it, I think it's more of the game not being able to understand it.
Titan quest is an alright game if you have a decent enough video card to play it, but otherwise it's a pain in the arse to try and deal with it.
I have an ATI X1350 512MB Radeon card, which is an INSANELY nice card, and even with it the game stutters and shakes as much as it did with my Nvidia FX5500

Graphix cards
Oh, man! *hits self* I was really looking forward to playing this game, and now I find out that my GFX card is incompatible! Is there any way to get a gfx card upgrade so i can run the game? PLEASE say that there is, I'm BEGGING you! *falls down on hands and knees*
Otherwise, I'm gonna have to return this game. And i got it at a city sixty-some miles from where i live, and had to repay my mom 30-something dollars, too!
And if i can get my gfx card updated, any specific one that i should get? What would you recommend?

Well, I have no idea to be honest. Maybe there's a driver download you can find somewhere, but you'll have to google for that yourself.
If you want to get a new video card all together, you can get an X500 for probably about 60 bucks. Up to you though.

Queen I don't know the technical side but Titanquest is a pretty fun game. But you should know that it is not like dungeon lords 3D style it is top down view like diablo and it involves a lot of clicking.
There is quite a lot of variation in experiences from different beautiful landscapes to cool items and abilities. It is pretty well designed but it is not 100% balanced that is some abilities are great and some are just fun to try.
Its especially fun if you enjoy building up a character in a realm that is pretty challenging. I mean it takes ages to beat the hardest difficulty from scratch (not importing items from other characters etc) and once you beat the game its not over there are still 35 other classes
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have if you get the video card

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Greetings queen,
I don't know what your system is. Assuming that you have a PCIxpress slot to use, I am running the game on two machine (one at home and one at work for my lunch hour) and have the following vid cards. At home is a HIS ATI 1950pro 512meg. This is backed up with a 1 gig of memory and 2.8gig P4 dual core. I can run all settings on high at 1024x768 display, with no problem. At work I am running a Saphire Geforce 8500GT 256meg. This is backed up with 4gig of DDR2 and a P4 2.66 Core 2 Quad. I can run all settings on high at 1360x768.
Now then, for the other tech stuff. If you have an open PCIxpress X 16 slot (or AGP), you can upgrade your pc with no problem. I do recommend online for the cheaper price such as tigerdirect or newegg. Prices can range anywhere from $100 to $600...even higher if you want. But you should be able to get a decient card for around $200. Titan Quest has some major system requirements to run with any kind of decency, even though the box requirements are rather low. It requires a nice balance of Memory, Processor, Graphics card. If your PC meets the minimum requirements, you will only be able to run it on low settings at best...it will most assuredly be a crappy experience. Even at the recommended settings, you will probably only get the best perfomance out of the game at medium settings. Which don't look to bad. I made a whale of a difference in performance from upgrading to a dual core processor at home. It's a great game...I can't even begin to tell you the amount of DAYS I have given to the TQ gods. But it takes a mighty machine to make it an enjoyable experience. Quite frankly, I would put my home machine specs at the recommended/minimum requirements.
Best of luck,
Feel free to post back, and I will help you more if I can.
