how to obtain Renal Bloodscalp's boots ?

Post by SuijA »

It seems like Renal Bloodscalp has the boots of speed and thereis only 2 other a BGII SoA.but how am i supposed to have them without screwing the plot.

should i side with bodhi to be able to kill thieves? but the thing is that my main char is a paladin so i afraid of getting fallen.

I have the maevar's treachery quest and bodhi is also waiting at the graveyard :P i wont make a decision untill i have the answer :)

Bodhi side :

You must kill Mae'Var before you ally with Bodhi.

Thieves side :

You can do it only after returning from spellhold.

Spoiler alert!

Remember that in both cases Arkanis Gath is the punishment for this action. You need death ward to survive his attacks, and since he's wearing immortality belt, you can kill him only by level / atribute drain (and maybe imprisonment, i aint sure). Easiest way is shapechange spell, to mind flayer. You may also flee, and try to lose him somewhere in docks (the tavern is good idea)

Edit : As for paladinhood... I dont think you will become fallen by joining Bodhi. From what i know only aligment changes and reputation failing beneath 6 does that.. but i aint sure :)

Yep. But only if you AINT allied with Bodhi. Arcanis does not appear then.. but Renal is gone aswell

There are 6 pairs of boots of speed in game. 3 in SoA, 3 in ToB. (not counting any mods)

oh so 2 are missing in gamebanshee's list.

so..to sum up killing renal and obtaining his boots is not possible under normal circumstances..if both conditions are subject to arcanist.he can see improved invisibility :P and lesser miracle also wont work on him ..(to use veil of the banshee.)

perhaps mae'var has an option to kill renal instead..cause i am pretty pretty sure i did it before in normal ways.help pls if u know any or all that save and load process will drive me insane :D

"Lesser miracle"? You mean Limited Wish i believe? Chose option "I wish to become everything i want.." (or something alike) and you will gain ability to transform to mind flayer, and by inteligence drain you will slay Arkanis.

I believe that Haer'Delis has stats draining weapon too, you might try using him if you dont have limited wish yet.

Killing someone for their boots, doesn't sound too paladin like! You'll be robbing the church's collection box next! :D

If you don't side with Bohdi then attacking Renal will invoke Arkanis as already pointed out, and he is instant death, and Renal himself isn't a push over. I'm not sure even a death ward would be proof against Arkanis, even if you don't suffer the instant kill effect his number of attacks and damage he deals out are pretty much just as lethal.

If you side with bohdi, the death dealing version of Arkanis doesn't enter the game (after allying with her) but a different version is involved in the first quest for Bohdi. Problem is of course if you ally with Bohdi, no Renal.

To be honest I don't know why you're so worried about the boots of speed, you might move a bit quicker but that's it, no extra attacks or anything.

Don't worry about the boots of speed - while helpful - potions and spells can take the place of them. Its not worth the headache of taking it from Renal if that is even possible.

well because it takes too much time walking from there to there ..i dont care about any other benefits :D

and whats the frreaking point..he has loot that u can never get.it doesnt make any sense to me :( death ward wont work agaist arcanis..he is totally unstoppable.as u cant manage to walk even.. :(

and its not my paladin pushing it..its the damn evil thief in my party..he does robbing the church's collection box..i am just not looking at that side of the screen :P

My point aswell!

Death ward stops only the insta kill effect, not the dmg itself. Arkanis has a +10 weapon.. so only protection here will be "protection from magical weapons".

Remember that there's time stop which will help getting the hell out of there if you chose to flee (Limited Wish Option : I wish to have control over time)
But remember not to go inside ever again :)

I'm just curious if Arkanis' Belt of Immortality is available in ShadowKeeper?I'm not planning to use, but would just like to know, if this actually an object.

P.S.
Already found it, it's marked as JONHP1, so that's probably the same object they use on Irenicus in Asylum when he flees the battle.
