Baldur's Gate Slowdown

Post by Crenshinibon »

I recently install Baldur's Gate on my new laptop and it has been running very slowly. I've tried reinstalling, which didn't help, or running it in compatibility mode, which made it take up a large amount of processing power. Does anyone have any experience with such an issue? I haven't tried any other IE games so far.

Help would be appreciated.

My laptop is an IBM Lenovo Thinkpad W50 with the following features:

* Windows XP
* 2.8 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, T9600, 6MBL2 Cache
* 4 GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
* 320GB Serial ATA Drive@ 7200rpm
* Multiburner, DVD RW +-, 8x Dual Layer
* ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 with 512MB VRAM Intel Wireless card

Thanks in advance for any responses to come.

Have you got anything running in the background? My laptop plays games slowly if I don't close every application, including background ones. Although, I must admit, this is with new, more graphic heavy games. I've not tried with the older games on this laptop.

Security programs aside, the only other ones I have running are my browser, sever Microsoft Office applications and the trial version of Game Jackal.

I doubt that this is the problem though as the processing power is pretty high. Even without Microsoft Office or Firefox, it still goes slow.

My previous laptop, which was a bit older had no problems with it.
