Hello All,
I would like to ask you what you think is the best weapon in BG2. I'll display a few of my favorites and say why as well.
Crasomyr +5, It makes an Evil opponent a very bad person. I think it is the best Two-Handed Sword of all.
Flail of the Ages, makes a lot of opponents slow and gives you more time to react at opponents. The Flail is the best weapon for a Cleric in my opinion.
Adjatha the Drinker, I've used this sword in Combo with the sword of Balduran and it workes. I never died and made a lot of enemies very unhappy.
The Equalizer, the only bad thing about this weapon is the fact that it is usable only after the Underdark
What is your opinion on these and other powerful weapons? What do you think is the most powerful of all?
Best Weapon?
Best Weapon?
"certainty of death, small chance of succes, what are we waiting for?", Gimli, son of Gloin
There are tons of good weapons, but other than the Holy Avenger I generally look at them in combination. Like if your using FoA your probably also using DoE. If you've got CF you've also probably got DZ. By ToB there are so many crazy weapon combinations that you can use when dual weilding that give your player not only great attack benefits but also defensive ones.
Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL

I don't think there's an overall best weapon, rather, the best weapon for a certain situation. Like the Flail of Ages is great against casters while say Crom Fayer is strong against golems.
I personally dislike Carsomyr as I think the bonuses it gives are really unnecessary. If I wanted a two handed weapon (which I rarely do), I'd most likely go for Staff of the Ram +6 or Gam the Sword of Grief +5. Weapon choice only really matters against two bosses within the game, so you can choose whatever you wish. I personally have a lot of fun with the default Wolfwere weapon and its' immense regeneration.

“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
Ascension wise, flail of ages is the best weapon in game.
Overall? The totaly overpowered Staff of magi, Ravager +6 and axe of un.. (the vorpal one). Followed by Silver sword and The Answerer.

My personal favourite weapon is The Answerer, but in my opinion there is no actual best weapon. I would say that there is a higher tier in terms of weapon strength, and it includes:
Crom Faeyr
Flail of Ages (fully upgraded)
Axe of the Unyielding +5
Ravager +6
Staff of the Ram +6

Ravager +6
Staff of the Ram +6

Staff of the magi. No resistance, damage output or decapitation ability can match the overpoweredness of permanent/re-equippable invisibility.
(And if that wasn't enough it's one of the three weapons that strikes as +5 in SoA, it has a daily level 9 spell, it has a better dispel on hit than Carsomyr and of cource a fireball/lightning combo spell.)
