I am having trouble keeping my combat mage(s) alive. Well conscious that is. No matter how high the armor, and or hit points it is like the enemy targets them and they get smoked so fast it is not funny. My nature mage who has less armor and less hit points lasts 10 times longer than the combat mage. I have upgraded/installed the patch to 2.2 but that does not fix it either.
Thoughts ideas?
Combat Mage
That's just the way combat mages are. Try reading this thread for more information.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"

If you casters are falling quickly roll a provoke tank or a provoke pet(provoke pets kinda suck as pets are usually behind you and it's a waste of time to wait for the pet to run to the monster) With a provoke tank you can also body block arrows or certain spells such as projectiles or . Let your nature mage use grasping vines which should help against melee monsters as the monster becomes immobilized. Try not having your combat mage autocast a curse as the monster targets you first. As intelligence is a casters main attribute they benefit quite nicely from Chant of Stone. All in all, combat mages in my opinion fall too quickly so they aren't worth it. I rerolled for that main reason at lvl 40.
