how do these work?

Post by probe53 »

magical signs have skills called burning blade, etc. where it said it works with a special attack from silver blades... yet ive never seen any effects from those. Must you already set the person on fire (torch, spell) before the effects work or does your blade have a chance of doing that for you?

im confused as to how burning blade is supposed to work cause ive yet to set anything on fire just by hitting it...

Im not sure but i think, you won't c any special attack or combo... instead, "special attack" will be shown through damage you do on opponent with silver sword, who is, incinerated by the igni spell which has been upgraded with incineration skill, or whatever it is called

Most special attacks are automatic.

However, some require holding down the right mouse button to "power up" and they generally have prerequisite skills that go along with them. When you spend an experience point to obtain a special attack skill, it is explained in the pop-up button on selection.

fire

If I understand you correctly the burning blade is your que to hit the left mouse and attack.
When your blade is on fire when you atack it automaticaly sets up a sequence of blows to your opponent .
this is very usefull when fighting.
The program does the fighting for you.
In simple hit the opponent every time youre blade turns to fire.
Good luck. ;)

That's something different. There is actually a skill in the Igni tree called Burning Blade that increases the chance of incineration if you're using the special attack of the group silver style (it's called 'The Torcher')

Unless you play on the hardest difficulty, the attack icon changes when your sword is "powered up", indicating that its time to do a combo. I think this is what Whitetail meant.

Yep. What he said is very true. But it's not at all what the OP was asking about. As I understood it, he wanted to know whether a specific skill, Burning Blade, causes incineration from a sword attack or if it just raises the chances of incineration from Igni.

In special attack modes you won't see the blade in Geralt's hand change visually or see the monster burst into flames. Instead, the red numbers that scroll up from each hit will increase in damage amount.

This is in medium difficulty. I've never played it at the hard level, so I don't know if there is any graphics difference at that setting.

Cheers.
