Just Finished FO Questions about FO2

Post by sonny »

Just finished Fallout. One word AWESOME. :D
Need to put that up there with BG, BG2 and Planescape:T on my top 5 list for sure. :)

Getting ready to start FO2 which I got from gog.com and it has the latest official patch. (Ver.1.02) I need to know about this unofficial patch by Killap.
1. Is it buggy?
2. Is it worth getting.?
3. Should I play through the 1st time with out it?
4. Does it have to loaded before you start a new game.

Also, is FO2 as good (no as great) as FO?

Thanks in advance
Sonny :) :)
They turned me loose from the nervous hospital. Said I was well.

No idea about patches, but I can answer you that FO1 and FO2 are almost the same in quality and in quantity FO2 overpasses 1 by a huge margin.

I enjoyed FO2 more so than FO, and that's saying a lot.
Killap's Patch adds a lot, and it's quite stable. I'm not sure if his patch comes along with the Restoration Project, which adds a lot of cut content back in the game.
I'd play without the Restoration Project at first, but definitly with Killap's patch. "Regular" FO2 is way too buggy.
I don't think you can add either halfway through a game; better to add in from the beginning.
Since it's just a big game with lots and lots of options, let me recommend to you this walkthrough/guide. It's even more comprehensive than our resident walkthrough, allthough less user friendly.

...what? FO2 is a miserable failure compared to FO. The only positive thing about FO2 that I can think of is that it's got more content than FO.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

More content, and more varied quests with more choices, and actually useful companions?

FO2 is a great game and you'll probably replay it many times because you can't experience all the quests when you play it for the first time, much of the content depends upon your 'alignment'.There is a huge number of quests, huge towns, many interesting people, I think you'll love the game if you liked original FO.

The only things I didn't like in FO2 are:
-the main story (it's better in FO, FO2 has many quests which are awesome, but the main story wasn't especially exciting, at least for me)
-when I played FO, I had this special feeling that not many people are alive out there if you know what I mean and there were many deserted places, but in FO2 civilization has expanded, there are bigger towns and more population, which is good in a way, but I enjoyed that feeling of "loneliness" and not so populated wasteland

Also, I found that there was more humour in FO2. Might not be everybody's cup of tea, though.

Many people prefer 2, but San Fransisco totally killed it for me and the weapons overload didn't really contribute to the experience. It's still worth playing by any account though.
