Solaufein and Valen Mod
Solaufein and Valen Mod
Hello!
I desided to install the Sola and Valen mode for the FIRST time ever on my new run. I'am going to create a VERY evil party with AntiPala, Sola, Valen and Viconia and 2 more. Since I never played those mods before I got some questions:
1) On Valen mode I must first accept Bodhis offer to get Valen into my party. But I like the offer of the shadow thief and would like to do THEIR quests and fight AGAINST Bodhi (I'am not interested in ROLE playing on a COMPUTER game , I do role play with my friends in the evening ). So will I be able to get Valen AND fight againt Bodhi, accepting the shadow thief's offer???
2) As I dont want to wait until underdark, I will create Sola with the cheat as soon as I get out of Irenicus' dungeon. (getting a NPC soo late SUXXX) So if i get him before underdark, what will CHANGE, if get to underdark and do the quests of Usth'natha??? Any differences??? Will there be problems???
3) I didnt exaclty understand what will happen, if Sola or Valen meet Bodhi later in the fight of chapter 6, since my english isnt that good. I read that Sola will change into a VAMPIRE???? Can you tell me about this? (ANY spoilers are allowed)

From what I've read you must side with Bodhi to get Valen in your party, after all Bodhi is Valen's mistress. Something hapens before your final showdown with Bodhi that makes Valen loyal to you and not her.
I have no idea on Solaufein but I have been looking into both Mods so if you play them I'd be gratefull for any feedback.

Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL
In case you hadn't realised it Solaufin isn't evil. Yes h gets miraculously kidnapped by Bohdi and gets turned, and he's ridiculously tough, almost makes up for him being uber powerful when he's with you.
The downside to both the mods is the two characters are made far too powerful, they virtually destroy the game in my opinion, your character becomes totally superfluous.
If you wish to do Watchtower Keep in the normal way, don't go near the Helmites with Valen in the party, they will attack as soon as they see her.

Well thats a really IMPORTANT information. I wouldn't like "cheating" all the time just to get a "normal" game... This information really whipes out my ideas about the new party. That way valen will drop out I guess...
Solaufein is still left. Did anyone try to cheat him right in chapter 2, not waiting for Usth'Natha???
EDIT: If Valen hides in shadows, will any good alignet priests and people see and attack her????

A couple of points to bear in mind, though:
By the time you can acquire Soulafein, you're party (unless you decided on a rush-to-Spellhold approach) will be pretty buffed. He's tough, but you can edit his stats down easily.
Valen is also over-the-top, but has a very strong "personality" and will make evil party choices for you. This already happens on at least two separate occasions in the game using Bioware NPCs, but nowhere to the extent that Valen does. It's a deliberate RPG configuration that works well, but bears keeping in mind.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
The Watchers Keep thing isn't a major problem as long as you know about it.appo13 wrote:Well thats a really IMPORTANT information. Go there and open the access to the 2nd level before picking up Valen. I usually clear the first level immediately after exiting Chateau Irenicus anyway. You can then go in and out of the keep without encountering the Helmites by using the side stairs and using the 2nd level entrance.

Are there any OTHER problems that "I shall know about"??? Since I really dont like such unpleased suprises...
I read at Weimar's website that there is a cheat which can create Solaufein so I wouldn't have to wait until underdark. Did anyone try this and could tell me what happen if I finally arrive in underdark, already having Solaufein in my party???

Got back to the game after a quite long break and I'm currently using Valen for the first time, I'm in Chap. 3 and haven't got to WK. I read the spoilers ahead and I'm guessing what can I do to be able to at least shop the Helmites store? Can you temporarly drop Valen?
To Appo13: get Sola in the underdark, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy him (just save some good quest in Athkalia + end SoA + ToB). As for the Valen Mod, remember to do Renal quest before getting Valen (must be still in Chap 2), or you wan't be able to do it (and you'll not be able to pick up Edwin)

The problem is that I play several other mods too, the most important is Improved spellhold, where I need to kick the asses of improved asylum party. For this I usually need at least 2.200.000 XP on my sorcerer (PC) so I HAVE TO DO ALL THE QUESTS of chapter 2 and 3 that are available: Firkraag, Planar Sphere and Prison, Unseeing eye etc... Last time I even did the first 2 levels of watchers keep to get 2.600.000 XP when I arrived at spellhold. (at least 3 inc clouds are needed to kill spellhold party... There arnt enough scrolls in the game to do it earlier so i NEED the level) So I would like to "create" Sola with CLUACONSOLE since WEIMAR himself talks about it in his readme file of the Sola Mod on his website. As WEIMAR says that IT IS POSSIBLE to create Sola already in chapter 2 there shouldnt be ANY problems when arriving at Usth'Natha but I'am NOT SHURE at all because he just says that it is possible, nothing more...
shouldnt Valen be able to hide with a potion of invisibility, so the helmits wouldnt see her???
EDIT: Since we have already said that the 2 characters valen and sola are imbalanced I thought about some options. To tune Valen down a bit I decided to: Remove her claws, giving her 2 weapons like daggers or smitars. So the imblanaced claws wouldnt kill firkraag with 6 hits...
I dont know about Solas stats and abilities but I'am sure that there IS a way to tune him down, too.

You can tell her to 'wait here' any timeCan you temporarly drop Valen?
As for Sola, he aint that overpowered, just disable his time stop immunity

I recall CLUAing Solaufein into the party before the Underdark the only time I ever used him. It was a hell of a long time ago though, I don't recall any problems in the underdark, and I did get to the final encounter with Bohdi, and to the end of SoA in fact, so it can be done. Also whilst I personally have problems with CoM's mods being over-powered and uber-cheesy, they are very well written, if they say you can do it, I believe them.
