Red Dragon Disciple build needed

Post by arryjan »

hi all, I have recently started out as a bard with the intention of multiclassing with the RDD class..I though it would be loads of fun and used a build on the internet which said I should take 9 levels of bard, 1 of fighter and 10 of RDD..however, when I had to face light of heavens she absolutely tonked me..which made me think..hmm this build can't be very good..so here I am, in need of a new and better build:angel: :o hope you can help me.

I think the proper build should have been 9 levels of Fighter, 1 level of Bard (for the RDD prerequisite) and 10 levels of RDD. You don't gain much of the bards spells and inspirations, but you get one heck of a hard hitting character. It was one of my first builds and I absolutely breezed through the game with it.

I can't quite remember the build as I played it two years ago. But basically I took the bard as my 10th level. For the first 9 levels I took pretty common feats such as Toughness, Cleave, Power Attack and the like.

Just about any RDD build should include Knockdown and Improved Knockdown.

Using Knockdown can pretty much forestall LoH's Divine Might Attacks.

Rdd

In OC, you usually get to level 17 before the final so you should plan to get RDD ASAP. Say, 4 fighter + 1 bard + 10 RDD then the rest put into fighter. Another thing to consider is RDD does not require that you can cast arcane spell so you can just start with charisma=8.

The sooner you start into RDD, the sooner you can take advantage of the benefits of its 10th level.

You should be able to get to level 20 before the final stages of the OC - even my drow (which has a +2 level adjustment) reached level 20 long before the final section of Act 3, and my non-level adjusted characters were at level 20 by mid Act 3.

I only got to level 16. But it is probably depends on how you play the game*. anycase, it's besides the point. The sooner you get the benefits of the 10th level of RDD, the better your character is.

* quoted from Nigel Kearney's guide:
For
almost the entire game you will be level 17 or below.
