Swallow Potions are more common, and available from many sources.

Easier to make your own, however.

Which Chapter? There are major changes between chapter 1 & 2, 3 & 4, and after the change to chapter 5, you can't purchase much of anything.

Same advice applies to all potions. The recipes are in your journal. You need between three and five ingredients to make potions, plus a strong alcohol for a base. for potions with more than 3 ingredients I recommend making white gull for your base, cheaper. With the alcohol and ingredients in your inventory meditate at a campfire and click on make potion icon. The potions you have the ingredients to make will be in bold print.

please note that alcohol that can be used for potion making will have potion base in their description. Beer ale and wine will NOT suffice.

Edit: You seem to be struggling a bit here so another use bit is don't let the cost of those books deter you from getting them. they are very important as they add journal entries that allow you to harvest ingredients from monsters and plants. Books on plants and monsters should be your single highest expense. They also allow you to complete quests for experience.

Witchers are part scholar, part warrior, part mage and part drug addict. Don't neglect the scolarship or you will be gimped in the late game.
